My biggest worry is that I might scratch the sensor.

No, the differences are very minor.

*istDS and K100D have pentaprism finder, the latter having shake reduction.

*istDL and K110D have pentamirror finder, the latter having shake reduction.

The Samsung models seem to be the same as the *istDS and *istDL.
Thanks John

Excuse my ignorance and possible blindness but, what are the differences between the D, DS, K100D, K110D and the Samsung X whatever

I've done a side-by-side at DPReview but the differences in my opinion are minor for MY NEEDS. Am I missing the forrest for the trees?

Thanks

I know this is an old thread but...why start a new one!

I find the manual for the istD really sucks and at some point suggested Matt should have written the manual.

Anyway, repeating the question, is there a book specific to the D - cause even after a year, I still can't refer to the manual and books deal with other cameras.

Thanks

Almost from the start I have done my cropping in-camera - and still do.

With the advance of digital photography and graphics software I see many discussions in the various fora about post-event cropping and composition.

Are we loosing our abilities or enhancing them. I realise that cropping is necessary but not as much as what's happening. Any thoughts?

Thanks again Matt - your input and information is priceless.

Yes, I am using the istD.

Thank you Matt. I glad I finally asked this question.

I had tried my hand at shooting moon and stars. It was quick and without any photographic wothiness - like I said an experiment. So, my question is what would happen if I shut-off the noise-reduction (NR)? I would really hate to waste so much time on a much longer exposure.

Second question - would I need to remember to turn the NR back on?

Thanks

Did a three-minute exposure and it must have taken just as long to record to a 80x card.

Is this normal?

The has been available a while and there really isn't anything great about it. Sorry fellas.

You would think an organisation like Pentax would have something FULLY working before publishing. Bad project management if you ask me - but you're not are you.

This site has more information than Pentax. I'll be moving to Europe in less than a couple of months and you will see my membership in the mail.
