Just thinking this through further, when you loaded the new film did it advance to frame 1 automatically?

Presumably the 'lock up' occurred when you pressed the shutter button?

Is anything showing on the top LCD?

Have you tried taking the batteries out for a while and then putting them back in?

Based on how cheap they are now, I'd think the bin.

Unfortunately the MZ range was cheaply made, despite the selling price, and some, if not all, had plastic gears for film transport. The gears fail over time and this could be what you're experiencing.

I too have an MZ-7 (that I rarely use now) and am keeping my fingers crossed.

As topic, my immaculate K20D plus accessories. Shutter count 2864. £250 by bank transfer.

I'm simply not using this kit, and rather than it just sit doing nothing I've decided it has to go.

I want to sell it as a bundle. It comes with all the original accessories; the camera and grip were bought new by me, and neither has seen much use. I can't find any marks on either the camera or grip expect the camera base plate where there are slight marks where it's been on a tripod.

The camera has the LL-80 Divided Matte screen fitted - link - and will come complete with the original screen.

I have a number of spare batteries, one of which is genuine Pentax, the rest being 3rd party. I've read the Post Office rules on shipping Li-On batteries (one in the kit plus two spares) and believe that as there are two items with take batteries that I could include up to 6 in total (but I'll have to double check).

Please message me if you're interested.

I bought one courtesy of the recent Amazon deals, and whilst it's chalk and cheese compared to my K5II, I like it!

The size, weight and balance are just right when paired with any of my Limited's, and although a lot of the settings can only be achieved through the menu system, once done it's ideal for just sticking in a (largish ) pocket when out for a stroll, (although I still tend to grab my Fuji X20 first!).

I find the grip takes a little getting used to compared to by K5II, but not when compared to my Fuji X20, so I think a lot depends on whether you use large(r) cameras most of the time.

There are a number of interesting features which I haven't yet tested 'in anger', for example (and it appears this may also apply to the latest but unnamed Pentax body announced at CES), an 'auto' auto focus mode. You can select manual or auto focus mode using a switch on the front of the body, but then if in auto focus mode you can select (via a menu option) AF.S, AF.C, or AF.A, in which latter mode the camera will select AF.S or AF.C dependent on the subject. No idea yet how it works, or how well, but one of many little features to play with in due course.

Saw this. Good idea?

I use a Toshiba FlashAir card, and can't say I've ever noticed a range issue, but...

Having the card dangling out of the SD card door will clearly compromise WR, but then I can't imagine getting water on the actual gizmo will do it much good!
