Usually transfer to Cyberlink photo Director then onto Picasa. If I uninstall Playmemorie's will that effect my picture files etc I have on the hard drive?
I'm not too familiar with Playmemories, but I wouldn't think deleting it would affect the hard drive at all, as it's an on-line (cloud) based service that you access via a device like a phone, tablet or PC. Indexing, etc, would all be on-line.

If anything I'd say the problem is once the program/account is deleted anything stored on-line will be lost, as I don't know whether it's possible to download/restore photos from the on-line/cloud storage?

There's bound to be someone else on the Forum who's more of an expert when it comes to cloud based photo storage?

I went for a Sandisk 16gb in the end.
Just make sure you back up your photos immediately after every shoot and don't rely on the card for storage.

I've bought from Microglobe in the past, both by post and more recently in person from their shop.

I'd rate the shop as tending towards disorganised, and the staff as very helpful (phoned one of their colleagues who was out for lunch, and got her to return because she knew where the item I wanted was! ).

On the day I visited I don't think any of the staff present had English as their first language.

Just to confuse the issue, I only use 4gb cards, wishing to avoid the 'all my eggs in one basket' problem should I be using a bigger card and have a card failure, lose it, whatever.

I shoot RAW+JPEG on a K5ii and a K-S1, so the cards fill quickly and there's a need to keep an eye on spare capacity all the time.

Cards get cycled from 1 - x, and I back them up to numerous devices before re-formatting them.

I've only ever had one card fail, (a counterfeit Sandisk via Amazon Marketplace), but I feel more comfortable knowing that if I have a card issue I won't be losing too much, and hopefully will still be in a position to re-shoot right away.

The only exception to my 4gb card rule are a number of 32gb ones I use for video.

I went to New Zealand for 6 weeks a couple of years ago, and bought a bridge camera specially for the trip as I too faced the problem you've set out.

Other than the fact that it wasn't a Pentax, I had no regrets. Light weight, small, ran (runs) on AA batteries, good IQ, great zoom range.

LCE transferred them from the SD card to disk, so the originals should still be on the SD card. DON'T FORMAT THE CARD OR RECORD ANY MORE SHOTS ON IT!!!!!

As suggested earlier, download Recuva to your computer, then put the SD card in a card reader and scan the card using Recuva.

If there's anything recoverable on the card them Recuva should find it.

Once Recuva has finished it's scan, save all that it's found to your computer HD or another external HD, NOT THE SUSPECT SD CARD!

Have to ask, why did you use LCE to burn the images from your SD card to disk. Was it just on this one occasion as part of an attempt to recover the missing images?

No, with the exception of the 20-40 zoom.

This help? http://bangmedia.no/pentax/sdmfix/

In fairness, all the pins/springs looked the same to me, but there is a spring on it's own without a pin shown in section 10
