When you've downloaded the update file - K50_v110.zip - from Pentax to your computer, I'd suggest you put it in a newly created folder called 'K50 firmware'.

Open' K50 firmware' and click on the file (K50_v110.zip) you've downloaded. It should self extract into the 'K50 firmware' folder. You'll see a file Fwdc222b.bin.

Put an/the SD card for your camera into an SD card reader attached to your computer. Copy the file Fwdc222b.bin to it, making sure it's in the root, i.e. not inside another folder like DCIM.

Remove the card from the computer card reader, then follow the instructions from Pentax.

Although I've probably got another one without case somewhere
So how much would that be, and would it fit K5II and/or K3II please?
Hi John - I'll need to find it first to confirm condition, case/no case, etc. I'll get back to you by PM then.

And yes it fit's the K5 (and I assume the K3) series.

Thanks.

Welcome to the Forum.

Shutter count is fine - hardly used!

As to lens recommendations, what do you/will you shoot?

Had my 50-135 for some time now. Had one moment when it seemed a bit lazy, but cleaned the contacts and gave it a run, and no problems since.

The problems with the 50-135 seemed to have been solved some time ago, but not publicised, as very few if any reports of SDM issues these days.

Be very wary of the serial number list. As I understand it Pentax do not use sequential serial numbers, so you can't tell when a lenses was manufactured.

The SDM is slow on this lenses, so unless your studio and town centre shots involved anyone or anything moving fast you may find mf is just as quick.

Your money I know, but I ignored the naysayers and have had plenty of time to enjoy my 50-135, which in terms of IQ is as good as the best.
