The only thing you want on the SD card is the .bin file - try unzipping on your computer and then drag and drop the file to the card.

When you've downloaded the update file - K50_v110.zip - from Pentax to your computer, I'd suggest you put it in a newly created folder called 'K50 firmware'.
Open' K50 firmware' and click on the file (K50_v110.zip) you've downloaded. It should self extract into the 'K50 firmware' folder. You'll see a file Fwdc222b.bin.
Put an/the SD card for your camera into an SD card reader attached to your computer. Copy the file Fwdc222b.bin to it, making sure it's in the root, i.e. not inside another folder like DCIM.
Remove the card from the computer card reader, then follow the instructions from Pentax.

Fantastic! It has worked a Treat! Quick and effective transfer of data with no hitches. And I have checked the update has fully taken. So Many Thanks, both Johns for giving me peace of mind plus a sense of achievement. With your help I have not been beaten by this!
