AFAIK there aren't any extension tubes that support auto focussing?

More than happy to be corrected.

FWIW I use Kaspersky all the time. Get it free with a Barclay's account, but I also buy these multi licence deals when I see them at the right price.

I've found the good thing with Kaspersky is that even if you buy an old package, you can download the latest version and apply the older version licence with no problems.

I have a small stockpile of licences that'll keep me going for years.

Thanks for the advice. I’m not quite sure if it was when it came back from the repairer’s or shortly afterwards. In any case it had a least one fully charged battery in it for a while. I suspect they’ll say send it in for assessment, which costs me postage each time, and even if they don’t repair it, they charge to return it. I am beginning to think the old Pentax quality control is a thing of the past.
I understand how you feel, but failure of internal cells happens across all equipment that stores settings internally. Had it on laptops, satnavs, etc, as well as cameras. I wish all such equipment came with user changeable cells. Most of my white goods need resetting after a power failure. PITA but doesn't take too long, but agree it's more of a nuisance when it's a battery powered device.

JohnX As I wrote, "the camera/lens simply took a bath" if I am allowed to use your own words.
In which case research and compile examples of water associated graphics and statements in advertising for Pentax cameras and ask the retailer, 'So what's different?'.

I would also take the same view as Mike P if it wasn't for the way that Pentax uses water so much in its advertising, with graphic shots of water covered kit, flowing water, etc.

I genuinely believe they can't have it both ways. Either it is waterproof or its not. Don't imply it is then hide behind the warranty, etc. I've shown my family and friends Pentax advertising in the past and without prompting they've all congratulated, me on having waterproof cameras!

What Pentax say might be marketing puff, but plenty of people take notice of it.

I have just got the camera (K30) back after the aperture block was repaired. The camera is 2 ½ years old. Now it will not retain the date / time however quickly the battery is changed.
Leave the camera with a fully charged battery in for a day to charge up the internal cell. If it still loses date/time then the internal battery/capacitor has had it.

You might try talking to the repairer if it was ok before they had it and see if they'll fix the problem foc.

Please expand on exactly what happened to the camera.

If this happened because you were clumsy and the camera took a knock and fell into water, etc, then it's down to you. See if you're covered under any accidental damage section of your household insurance.

If the camera/lens simply took a bath and there was no impact, that could be a different issue, as whatever the circumstances the bottom line is the camera got wet.

The retailer from whom you bought the K-1 is responsible to sort things for you under the Consumer Rights Act. See what they have to say.

Under the same Act you may have redress against Ricoh Pentax and their advertising.

Ricoh say 'When an AW- or WR-series lens is mounted,* the K-1 and its lens forms a remarkable digital imaging system totally resistant to demanding environmental factors.'. link Look under the heading 'Dependable dustproof, weather-resistant construction'.

I don't know about you, but as a lay-man I think '...totally resistant to demanding environmental factors' means the camera when fitted with a WR lenses should be water-tight.
