Think you mean ethics.

We live in a capitalist society, if you haven't got used to that by now then maybe it's time to change country to live in....
Thanks, but for me, ethics is how I do business; principle is whether I do business.

You seem to infer that neither ethics nor principles exist in a capitalist society. Maybe it's not me who's in the wrong country?
Anyway, blame it on the way I was brought up - to treat other people as I would expect to be treated. There's nothing wrong with making money - far from it - it's how you make it that's important.
you will notice there is a smiley at the end if my comment, that's there for a reason, it means don't take it to seriously...
Missed the smiley. Apologies!

And supposing they hadn't?

All of you who seem to feel the need to explain are, I'm sure, really nice people etc, etc, etc.

If you're happy, there's no need to justify your actions, is there?

So why are you? At the end of the day, it was your decision, you live with it.

And a Happy Christmas! (Now, wonder what I should charge each of my family for their presents?:roll

If you stand back and let your son do the maths, he might agree that Pentax is a better deal all round, especially if he's buying AND you're prepared to share lenses, etc.

If he decides on another brand, well, life's all about learning from experience and mistakes isn't it?

As to peer pressure, difficult to avoid at that age. Depends whether he sees himself as a leader or follower.

Usually there is some indication on the lens body or mount as to which make they're intended for.

Sometimes it'll simply be N for Nikon, C for Canon, etc.

If you see P, Pentax or PK then if should fit.

Try this as a useful site for mount identification;

The issue for me is that someone posted details of an opportunity which I'm sure wasn't intended to be a money making one.

As I saw it I was offered an opportunity to add to the enjoyment of my Pentax system.

Could I have bought shed loads of lenses to sell on? Yes.

Did I think about buying shed loads of lenses to sell on? Yes

Did I actually buy shed loads of lenses to sell on? No

Why didn't I? Principle.

The debate seems to have touched a few raw nerves. Me? I'm still happy with the face that looks back at me from the bathroom mirror every morning.

But, and in the spirit of balance and honesty, had this been an opportunity to exploit Canikon users I would have done so without a moments hesitation.

Why am I suddenly uncomfortable with being a Pentaxian?
No idea, I'm sure there are Canon and Nikon users that suppliment their hobby by doing such things so it shouldn't make any difference you being a Pentax user.
They're Canon and Nikon users. That is the differance.

Stupid I know, but to me this is like making money from your family. It's principle; you have it or you don't.
