Peter,

If I had the money to spare I'd buy it in a heartbeat and keep it as a second copy. One my best loved lenses and totally awesome.

Regards,

John

you don't look a disgrace judging by the list in your .sig! Well, apart from the worrying lack of MF Primes...
Oh!........erm, I only list what I currently use, I have quite a few original K series primes starting at 18mm through to 300mm, some M & A zooms & primes and a couple of Sigmas 16mm & 24mm. I'm an old devil, started in '79

Still toying with the idea of a Sigma 180mm.

How much?

Hi
You may have manual extension tubes as opposed to auto extension tubes. I this is the case you will need to enable use of the aperture ring in the camera's set up menu and use stop down metering to obtain a correct exposure.

The only slight problem is I'm probably going to have a macro lens, but no camera to attach it to for a while!
Did you never watch Blue Peter? Make one from an old Ice cream carton and some sticky backed plastic tape.
.....you'll also need an empty toilet roll tube, cling film and special (rounded end) scissors

Hi Phill

The Tamron 1.4x seems to fetch a good price, the Teleplus, Kenko et al are generally found cheaper on the likes of Ebay. I got all of mine s/h apart fron the 1.5x which was NOS (New Old Sock) I've *heard* that the later ones don't always work with SDM lenses in AF, but I have no direct experience, apparently it needs the "Pz-AF" lettering on the side of the body. The contact for Powerzoom on the mount carries power to the SDM motor, best of luck and good hunting.

Best regards,

John

Hi,

I'm using the following:

Tamrom-F AF1.4X Pz-AF MC4, Teleplus Pz-AF 1.5x SHQ & Pz-AF 1.7x SHQ all with pretty good results on a DA*300, from what I can tell they're all probably made by Teleplus. I occasionally use them on other lenses as well FA 135/2.8 & Tamron 90/2.8 Di.

Hope this helps,

John

I got mine from a felow forum member, optically very good, focusses quickly and built like a tank. It is very heavy to carry around all day, but has such a usefull range sometimes it`s all I take out. Would be happy to reccomend it.

Davex.
Until Dave commented it wasn't exactly a glowing recommendation, but yes it is sharp and focus is fast and accurate, there's only minor distortion at 24mm, the filter size is 82mm (expensive). It's heavy but very well built, it behaves a bit like the A 35-105/3.5 did on film, but on digital...........a good walk around lens! In all it does nothing very badly, just gets on with the job......oh the rubber grip attracts dust easily. It's just a good allrounder and slots in nicely between a 10-20 and a 70-200. I'm a prime lens man so the best recommendation I can give is.........would you buy it again? Yes I think I probably would

Regards,

John
