Well it's all gone now, so we'll never know what was said that caused you to want to remove the entry. A useful reminder though that we should hold off comments until the judge has done the judging.

The Pentax macro lenses are all excellent, so you can't go far wrong. There are also plenty of other makes that are also excellent - it's quite difficult to find a poor macro lens.

So it's down to features really, and what suits your personal requirements.

I've used quite a few macro lenses and I've been happy with all of them.

"SDM" is just a label and the new lens has a new motor entirely.

I suppose we don't always apply logic to our purchases - sometimes just fancying something is enough.

If it were all about just capturing great images, then 450, 500, 600 isn't going to make much difference. Sometimes lenses won't ever be long enough. One thing is for sure - the longer they get, the heavier and larger they get and the more difficult they become to master.

It would be fascinating to know how many are being made, but we never will. Just to populate all the countries and dealers must take a huge number to start with, plus the initial sales interest.

I'm not greedy though, just one will do.

The Pentax 18-135mm is a lovely lens that will do all the things you mention.

Could the exposure compensation have been set at +3 or more stops, thus totally over-exposing every image?
