Try phoning Pentax (UK) Ltd - they supply lots of instruction books. Otherwise, Oldtimer Cameras advertise regularly in AP that they can supply copies of almost any instructions.

Vivitar lenses supplied with the Pentax fittings should be fine with your ME Super.

Hi Vince

That is a valid point - a second hand ME Super could well be cheaper than a repair, and might even have a longer guarantee.

I do know that it is recommended that batteries should always be replaced together and that old and new batteries should not be mixed.

I would suggest that uneven current flow between the two batteries could cause a problem. Perhaps you could start again with two new batteries.

We use a Sony digital projector at ADAPS, connected to the club's laptop. To make a decent slide show I think you really do need to design it properly in the computer - without this control could you even change the orientation of the pictures?

Presentations can look pretty impressive when projected, but the red component in the projected images is weak compared to the on screen image so the colour balance does change.

The result is nowhere near the standard of a 35mm projected transparency.

Optical glass is quite soft and delicate, and the fungus can actually eat into it.

Cleaning is expensive so it needs to be avoided wherever possible.

Don't forget that fashion and popular perception have a lot to do with things. My mint Pentax MX has a value much higher than either of the cameras you mention, as it has a largely deserved reputation for better reliablility than the auto exposure cameras of its day. My MX has outlasted a stream of ME, ME Super, ME-F and MV cameras and is still going strong.

The other factor is condition - for some reason, there are very few mint Super A's on offer but plenty of ME Supers so there seems to be more of a market in the latter cameras. I have no idea why this is, but if you are selling one and the price ends up high then I guess you don't worry too much about it!

I would advise Pentax lenses every time - readily available at excellent prices, superb quality, matched transmission quality (no colour shifts from lens to lens) and identical operation (focusing rings, zoom rings and aperture rings operate in a consistent direction).

In the past I have bought many other makes of lens, and have always been disappointed in either the optical quality or the quality of manufacture.

As I recall, Hanimex were an Australian distributer who produced all sorts of lenses under the Hanimex and the lower priced Hanimar ranges. These were made in many fittings, just as all independent makers still are today. I was not that impressed by the ones I came across.
