I wouldn't mind them either. Actually I sold the 28mm F2 and 20mm F4 not that long ago and swapped the 30mm f2.8 for the FA35 I'm selling now but there you go. I'd get the "M" 85mm F2 or the 85mm F1.8, I found the 85mm F2 to be as sharp as the 77mm so it wasn't that pants.

The DA70 is overpriced, ive seen it new for £275-£300. I wouldnt pay £270 for a used lens.
Well it sold to a chap in Belgium. Given the exchange rate at the moment this means it was probably just a bit over 300 euros so for anyone on mainland Europe that's probably pretty cheap.

I am selling the lenses I don't really use. I never use the 35mm as it doesn't focus well on the DS but also I don't need a full frame 35mm lens as I never used that on film. I still have an FA28 and FA43 so I think I can manage.

The DA70, well I think it's a bit overpriced, for the money I'd really want an F2. It just didn't grab me though the focus shift is nice and it's very well made. If the K20D works well with the 77mm I'd be tempted to try another one on that.

Apart from that I'm just selling the MZ5-N but I have a Z1P so no problem there.

First refusal ? If you like but I have no intention of selling it it's a brilliant lens good wide open at F2.8 indoors, tiny compared to anything equivalent and Nikon don't make one. I know a lot of people like the 50-135 zoom fast aperture and excellent quality but for me it's just TOO big.

I think the body of opinion is telling me that a better body might be a good idea. If the FA24-90 could be used as my standard and the other lenses worked ok too I would be happy. I just ned to find a body. A Pentax/Samsung full frame body would be nice.

Move to Nikon ? Well i did have a look around but the problems with Nikon are.

(1) D60 nice and small and light good spec BUT can't take any lens that requires a screw type auto focus so my favourite 50mm F1.4 would be ruled out along with the 85mm F1.8 so no joy with that.

(2) D80 ? Might have been ok a couple of years ago but why pay twice the price of a K10 for more out of date technology. Seriously lacking up to date features and hugely overpriced. Of course if you don't mind being ripped off it's ok. If I really wanted this one I would have bought a K10, maybe I should have.

(3) Everything else they have D200, D300 are all far too big and heavy. I like the size and weight of the Pentax system including the weight and size of the lenses, they're all much smaller than the equivalent Nikon.

(4) Macro flash prices for Nikon, bloody hell.

(5) The D300 has the same feature as the K20 where you can set the focus for each lens, looks like they have the same problems as Pentax.

So I might switch to Nikon but then again i might just buy another Pentax body if I can get the lenses to work with it. When the K20 drops to £400 I might get one. Or if the K2 or whatever it is arrives I might be tempted if it's gorgeous.

I haven't seen it for less than £300 in the UK and delivery is usually at least £20 so if anyone on this forum bought it for £265 with free postage they'd be saving at least £50 on the cheapest available UK price. Also it's not even ex demo, 2 weeks old and only been on the camera twice. Also there's a genuine 49mm SMC Pentax filter with it which you couldn't even buy today if you wanted one which must be worth £10-20.

So maybe £250 would have been more tempting but if it doesn't sell I still have the lens and maybe some day I'll get a decent body to go with it.

So overpriced is a matter of opinion really.

I think it's quite an expensive experiment buying and selling really good glass when there's obviously a problem with the camera..

Have you actually contemplated sending the camera back to Pentax for a check?

The 70mm has tickled my fancy but a black FA 77 I prefer....
I had a black 77mm but sold it to Unlocker as it wasn't too compatible either. It was the nicest lens you could hope to have. I still have the FA43 though, I forgot to put that on the list, it sort of works most of the time. The 35mm is too close to the 43 so one of them has to go and it's not the 43.

Hi John, after my experiences I'd only buy a camera where you can setup the lenses individually so that means the K20D or Nikon D300.

They both cost too much at the moment and the Nikon doesn't take Pentax lenses (unless you know better )and weighs about twice what I want to lug about.

I might buy a K20D when it hits the £400 mark.

Hi Steve, Dan came round a month or two ago and tried a few of the lenses on his K10 and they seemed to work ok. Without actually trying a body for a few days however it's hard to say. Of course I've left it a bit late for a K10 now unless I buy one in Argos for £450 but then I don't expect that they would take it back if it didn't focus with every lens.

The ones that work and don't

Didn't do well are the
FA24-90
FA77mm
FA35 F2

Ok if you watch that it's actually focused
FA50 Macro
FA135
FA28

Mostly ok
FA50
FA100

Always ok

I read the earlier thread, so I was aware that the troublesome lenses appear to work fine on the K10. Of those on your list I have FA35, FA50, and the 18-55 kit lens and as expected they work fine on my K10D. I also have a FA28-70, which you have listed for sale and this also works fine ,in fact I have yet to fit a lens that did not work.

It would be interesting to hear of other DS experiences with these lenses. Any DS users out there that can help John solve this problem

Just came across this item on ebay only 20 minutes left, and it would be expensive once import have been paid http://tinyurl.com/666nfa

Steve
Hi thanks for the heads up on the DS, I think they maybe a bit optomistic on the price though i think if I thought i could get that sort of money for it I'd sell it myself ! I forgot about the 28-70, yes the DS hated that too.
