Like you, I am excited about mirrorless cameras. I think what a few people are missing on this thread is that some people want what mirrorless can bring to you. Am I going to buy a Pentax FF mirrorless? If it comes out in the next year or so, maybe yes. If it is K mount, no thanks. If it comes out with a bigger mount diameter, and a handful of nice lenses, you now have my interest. But, I am not going to hold my breath on that one.

It is sad to see lifetime users change, but that is life.

If you are not happy where you are, try something new. For the time being, I am keeping one foot in the Pentax camp, and one in another camp. It works for me, for now I am happy. There is not an over lap in systems.

Considering that each person that does flash the firmware of their camera has different IT skills, and if it does go wrong, it becomes very expensive very quickly. You would think that the process would be made to be as simple as possible. To be honest, instead of copying a bin file to the root of your sd card, if memory serves me right. I would rather connect my camera to my laptop via a cable, and update the firmware like every other piece of electronic equipment I update. A small simple piece of software from Pentax that sits on your desktop. Simple and easy.

Makes you wonder what percentage of people never update the firmware because of being slightly confused about the process.

I'm in the same boat as Richard, and I am sure as many others are. I had K mount lenses. So staying with Pentax seemed to be the right thing to do.

I went to our local camera shop, and while I was chatting to the people that worked there, I mentioned that I was a Pentax shooter. The reply was "that has got to be difficult in this country". When I was living in Australia, I had the same conversation, and got the same sort of reply.

But, now I am drifting off to another brand small step by small step. I don't have to buy everything here now and today. The brand that I am moving to has brought out some some new products that I am really interested in buying that suit my style of work, and has got me thinking about trying and buying. Pentax is not doing the same. I really like Pentax, but they are really making it hard to stay with.

Like some others, a 4:30am start to the day. A quick look outside before getting ready to pack and leave, and the stars and the moon was out, and looking good. No clouds. So we hit the road for a good look out point, and off we went. We found a good place to set up, and was ready and waiting for the event.
