It turns out the Spotmatic F I always thought was my Grandad's was actually my Dad's! I found a load of paperwork including original receipt with serial numbers, manual and guarentee card with the plastic wallet. An original set of everything...... Just missing boxes.

Anyway on a whim did a check of serial numbers and both the Spotmatic F body and the the 55mm Super Takumar lens correspond to the bill of sale. And there we go...... This kit cost my Dad £139 in 1975........

I just find stuff like this interesting...... Don't know if anyone else does!

Kodak BW400Cn is pretty good in my opinion, I use it as my black and white choice in 35mm and have got some pretty good results with it.

I have an old Voightlander Brillant TLR and it is ok, though have yet to actually finish the film currently in it to see if it works.....

I got my Program A from the local 2nd hand market..... Charity shops don't seem to have much decent stuff anymore.

Thanks for the replies, I'm not really comfortable taking one of these apart by myself especially as this is a relatively advanced camera. It's frustrating that just one little thing is beating an otherwise perfectly operational and useable camera.

I was planning to use it as the standard film camera for most applications so I don't use the Spotmatics too much and end up with them needing serviced! It would also be a touch better than the Program A for using films like Ektar I would imagine. It came with a winder and a Sigma zoom lens that I don't actually use at all that I could sell to offset the cost..........

Hi,

Have identified the pin and have gently pushed it in but there appears to be no effect, the counter still only resets to 24....... Hmmm.....I don't want to push to far as I don't want to any damage but it doesn't seem to want to co-operate with me!

Got this on front of a camera a while ago and has just been sitting there....... Got the original box though! Done a couple of test shots on the K200 with it and immediate im[pressions are it's ok, a bit flare prone but then I didn't use a hood! Needs a clean too! I already have a Pentax A 35 - 70mm F4 zoom and no experience of 3rd party lenses......

So, worth keeping hold of as a convenient walkabout lens or sell it to fund something else?

Got this issue on a Pentax Super A. Not resetting from 36 to zero but stopping at 24. Has anyone had anything similar and is it a fix that can be done by an amature with few practical skills or am I best of sending it for a full service/repair to Harrow or Asahi Technical?

Aside from that it is a very nice camera in full working order and in black!

Cheers!

Hopefully will be ok. The first 5 shots will be ok at least!! At least it was technically a testing roll so nothing really important on it. WIll cross my fingers!

Just realised I'd taken 10 shots with the exposure compensation set to 1/2......... Film is Kodak Ektar 100 that I understeand to be very sensitive to exposure. Have I wrecked these shots or will something be salvaged from them?

I am so often a completely useless muppet.
