I had my K200 in torrential rain. Was fine. Kept on shooting. Just making sure it was left out on the side at home to dry out fully. I would presume the K5 would be much the same.

I think still for ultimate portability a 35mm system with, let's say a Super A and 50mm M lens, is the most fun to have as it's just great really! Well, that's my idea of fun, but I have odd ideas......

I like Pentax APSC, they have the size right I think. A k5 is not actually that much bigger than a CSC with a standard lens.

My K200d has quite a bit of sentimental value attached to it as I got it not long long before my Father died in 2009 (It was my first SLR or 'real' camera) and we had some photography walks (I still have and use his Spotmatic F). I'd like to largely retire it really. I'd either like to get something similar or maybe the K20 as a MF camera and to take in areas that it wouldn't matter so much if it got damaged etc. We're moving to Budapest in January so these are things to think about.

I do really like my K5, the only reason I got it was from a legacy from my Mother after she passed away a year and a half ago, so that has baggage attachd to it as well. It's funny how certain things get dragged beyond simple tools to having meaning pushed onto them to a point where it gets hard to use them or put them in harms way. For me largely because of my Father and Grandfather these have largely been in camera form.

Anyway, off topic digression. The K10 and K20 have seemed to be quite appropriate for MF lenses? The focus screens are available and investment into them won't break the bank and if I drop them or get them nicked it wouldn't be the end of the world (depending on the lens on the front though I supppose!).

Was practising with this old MF lens and the K200 and I think the results straight from the camera (jpegs) are pretty good. No artistic value or merit here, just a test of older kit.

(I was lucky to get a Pentax M42 adapter before the price went up, only used it twice!!)

Cookery....

I've just been looking back over some K200d photos I took when it was new and I knew even less about photography. Yep they have a "look" to them that I've never quite got with the K5. Just whether it's something wrong with me or my monitor but there's "character" in a similar way to what I like about film....

I don't know, I haven't ever really gotten on with the K5 in the same way I did with the K200. Still blindingly good as a package though...

A few more items from the clearout.

Pentax f4 75-150 mm M series zoom lens. In excellent condition the only thing being some minor zoom creep but this seems to be true of them all! No fungus. Very capable lens, there are several people who do use them on the forum. I've decided to stick with my 28/50/135 M primes for film. I've used it a couple of times for film both colour and b/w and has produced good results even though I was using very cheap film.

Not sure what to ask, £30 plus postage.

Pentax 28-80 AF zoom

Came with my MZ-7, nothing wrong with it just surplus to requirements and the space is needed! Original caps included, works fine and no fungus.

£25 plus postage.

Pentax AF400FTZ Flash

Perfect condition with original box and carry 'sleeve'. Works perfectly and has never had batteries kept in it outside of use since I have owned it. Just a bit big for my taste as I rarely use flash and if I do I prefer smaller ones.

Indeed, actually I used the K200d as my only camera for years, only just got a K5 a year ago and to be honest never felt low ISO images looked all that much better. Main advantage is the high ISO, but faster lenses do aid in that.

I'd be partly tempted to sell the K5 on, as the K200d and the Olympus csc system would probably be quite adequate.

I think I was just confused as the K200d was supposed to be entry level and I knew nothing about DSLR's at the time. Was just starting an Msc in Geosciences so the weathersealing sold it!

I've just passed 30 but I still struggle with the concept of 2006-08 being classed as ancient technology!!

I was just wondering, as I still do on occasion use and like my K200d, I know the MP size is the same but is the sensor the same? I haven't used a K10d before and am wondering about the differences and whether it would be worth looking for and exploring the CCD sensors?

Would people rate the K200d as a companion to the K5?
