If Only........

If Fujifilm and Olympus can do it, I for one cannot see any reason why Pentax should be unable to make something like this.

DIY and a little know how is all it takes. lol:

Can't deny that the Spotmatic is a wonderful looking camera, but I'd still love to see a digital MX

NOTE: That's the proper MX..!!

It would be interesting to have an idea of how much it would cost to produce something like this.

I'm guessing that, using the traditional camera making techniques, we'd be talking many thousands of pounds per camera, probably even more than the most exotic Leica prices.

It's a nicely executed idea, but personally I wouldn't buy one.

Olympus managed it

Not exactly, what they did was create something superficially the same, but with modern materials and manufacturing. They didn't take an OM body and give it digital insides.

What is illustrated here is a Spotmatic body, within which is a digital SLR. That would be much more difficult and expensive to produce. I'll bet the satin chrome finish costs in themselves would be staggering. No plastic in this Spotmatic D! And no EVF either if it's being done "properly", which is what I was musing about.
