Hi Steve our Mac computers work well with any camera just "plugandplay" it reads the files on the camera ,and opens I photo then tells you the make and model and how many images you have in the memory without the need for any other software. When you have moved the photos in to I photo it's easy to shift them to PS or whatever.. hope this helps.. Jeff

Yes I've got a handfull of m42 screw mount stuff and a Pentax k ring that I used with my MX in another life, and the 28-80mm ,80-320mm FA with aperture rings , so like I said it's like having a whole load of new stuff to play with, I bet the 80- 320 might be a bit soft with the X2. I'll find out on Friday Cheers ...Jeff

Last month I was working in the UK and I popped into a camera shop and bought two things. A petal hood for the kit lens on my K100D and THIS:-

If I stick it on the K100D with the kit lens in manual mode and manual focus, it doesn't seem to recognize anything - the shutter won't fire and you can't select different apertures. So I tried it with a manual lens (Pentacon 2.8/29mm with a PK adapter to 42mm). Still nothing. And no select lens focal length window on the camera. Similarly, changing the aperture on the manual lens had no effect - the shutter refused to fire.
Have I wasted my £5 or is there something obvious that I'm missing here?

I really like Micheal Hallets work, I worked with a theatre designer years ago who produced similar work for me to use as reference material , for set contruction, painting, ect.
and a few years ago David Hockney did a project useing the same technique, I love it thanks Stefan.... Jeff

Thanks, Neil and Stefan ,there 's more to this hood thing than one might think eh I'll read the 'toothwalker 'in full later , lot's of stuff there to think about,as for the 80-320 mm I guess it will have to be a rubber screwy on thing rather than a reversible hard hood . Oh and thanks for that link to the review site ,seems this lens might be more usefull in sunny Crete than it everwas back in dull overcast Lancashire! Thanks again.... Jeff

Hi Neil, Do you know if this lense hood will perform on the pentax fa4.5-5.6 80-320mm without getting in the way and vignetting? With this lens the barrel rotates as you focus so I guess a petal type hood is no good !
It seems they make them in a screw on 58mm . So maybe worth a punt, Jeff
