I find that most straps are far to short ,and I don't like the way the strap loops on the camera make it stick out in front with large lens.
So I made a flat plate out of a bit of ally with two slots for the strap and a screw that goes in the tripod mount ,it works fine and cost nothing,no camera shops here anyway ...jeff

Batteries ,I have a set of Eneloops in my K100 and they work fine maybe 300 shots per charge I have a set of energizers for emergency they are two years old ,they live in the bag and still read fully charged if I stick em in the camera .
When I use my longest lens 80 -320 I use manual focus first then sometimes auto to nail it, that I think saves hunting and therefore battery ...Anyway in some strange way I trust manual focus more than the new fangled auto focus... jeff...

Thanks for that Gwyn ,Bright a bit wet and not as warm as here ,I'll do the travel light and hit the charity shops if I need something warmer thing ....

With me it's the otherway around when I was a youngster I could work all day come home ,shower, change, go out drink dance and party till the wee small hours get home sleep get up go to work never had a hangover .
Now I'm in me late fifties a few glasses of wine in the evening is me limit!It's enough to drive one to drink...jeff...
