Thanks ISO, but the cheapest I can see at Amazon is about £300 (for the Q7 body)- SRS is about £20 cheaper No contest really
Duncan, actually I was talking about the viewfinder. Somewhere earlier in this Thread I did raise the question of other makes of viewfinder that might be cheaper (or secondhand)that would do the trick. Don't forget they all fit on the flash hotshoe which is a standard size. Duncan though thought the Pentax one was the best.

The SRS price looks reasonable when you see what a beautiful jewel it is. The quality of the view through it is outstanding. Crystal clear and up with the best viewfinders of this type.

.
Duncan just for the record the Amazon price is £179.99 SRS £199. But I guess these days one has to factor in the slave labour rates at Amz.

One of the Dictionary definitions of ‘Candid’ is ‘Informal’, so this is how I would see the question.
1. Street Photography I would agree with a few here, implies photos of Streets with people in them somewhere. (Otherwise they are architectural or an historical record – eg before it’s pulled down).
2. If ‘Candid’ is informal, and ‘Portrait’ is posed or asked for, then it follows that there should be two definitions to clarify things.
a) Street Photography (which has people in it), and is ‘Candid’.
b) Street Portraiture, where an individual who happens to be in the Street/Park etc, is maybe asked to ‘pose’ for the pic and is usually closely cropped so that less of the ‘Street’ environment is evident.

Q7!

I love my Q and took it on recent holidays to Rome and New York. Picure quality is fabulous. Body, 01 standard prime, optical finder, 02 zoom, 03 fisheye, hoods, remote control F, CPL, a couple of batteries and cards in a case 6 inches wide, 5 high and 4.5 deep. Pretty heavy though at 616 grammes for the lot.
Ken I have read somewhere that there is a problem with the Optical Viewfinder in that it doesn't really work for close ups. Given there are a host of Hot Shoe mountable viewfinders about, I wonder if there are other, adjustable, ones about?

Duncan – great minds think alike – Look at previous threads ‘Q on Q’ and ‘Q7 with K Mount Adapter’
Might give more food for thought.
AND if Gartmore exhorts it’s value, it sure must be good

My first camera was a Kodak RetinaII – the one with the bellows and fantastic Zeiss lense. It was a ‘hand me down’ from my brother who bought it in Germany when he was in the RAF. My second was a ‘S’ which came exactly the same way ! I had it for ages but can’t remember what happened to it. If only one knew what one knows now
