Okay this is going to sound pretty stupid to most of you im guessing
Say, I buy a flashgun
Whats the thing called that allows me to hold the flashgun off-camera via a cord (to the hotshoe??)
Are they expensive?
Im very new to lighting/flash etc.
Also, im looking at buying a flashgun, which would be better
Pentax AF360FGZ or the Sigma EF 530 DG Super (considering the Sigma is £20 more)
And I dont really care about the badge.

I prefer 600 height for portrait shots, and 700length for landscape shots.
Personal preference though, even from switching 1024x768 to 1680x1050 resolution.

Oh, and I use full quality

"Your images are really soft, that lens is useless"

I just knew it wasnt at its optimum
Still, almost wide open.

Id say that was a reasonably sharp shot
Its shot wide open though (F/3.2)
You couldve reduced the exposure down to increase the aperture to around F/5.6 (The optimum sharpness for the 50-135mm lens)

To try some tests, set up a tripod, test your 18-55 at 50mm against the 50-135 at 50mm, at their optimum sharpness' (For the 18-55, its F/8 ) and see what you think of the difference. It should be noticable.

Some excellent shots there - that lens really performs well as you said, with buildings.

I too will be going out to liverpool for some photos after my exams, to snap away at those cranes, i counted over 40 from one place last year Plus, I only live a 20minute train journey away - the new buildings are a really good subject for photos.

I think joining this forum has helped me alot
I used to do alot of graphics work and stuff
So im heavily used to using photoshop
Which means i used to rely on it alot.
Now, I dont as much, and i'm concentrating more on the actual photos I take.
Plus, the critique from real photographers points of view really helps.

The difference between me and most of the people on this forum, i started with a digital camera, and photoshop is my "developing" if you like. I want to go back and get a film camera, and develop some pictures of my own really.

Actually, thats a lie.
I copy my music and photos to dvds every once in a while.
My CDs would take too much time to copy again, and obviously photos are lost if the HD fails.
Everything else, I don't care about.
