Sigma 10-20

Hello, 1st post in here for me - hope to be a regular contributor. I ain't the best only picked up the camera at Xmas and I've loads to learn about what makes a great pic (seen loads on here though) - but any critical comments would be ace.

Just bought one of these Sigmas and thought I'd post a few pics for your comments - just love this lens it's soo good for buildings.

Loads of construction going on in Liverpool for the Capital of Culture year so should put this dude to some good use over 2008.

A very good collection. Really good. I guess you have some experience off snapping.

The best part of the shots are how good you caught the sky. Most have troubles getting the sky blue. Usually the sky is blown out. But not here. Excellent.

As you mention a few mistakes now and then. But overall very good.


On the church shoot with the trees, I think the focus is wrong. Not sure if it is intended but it seems like you have the focus on the branches and not the church??

The best shot is the new arena with the guy on. Good!

Some excellent shots there - that lens really performs well as you said, with buildings.

I too will be going out to liverpool for some photos after my exams, to snap away at those cranes, i counted over 40 from one place last year Plus, I only live a 20minute train journey away - the new buildings are a really good subject for photos.

Tried to get out there lunchtime today but it's way too dark wet and miserable - looks like the rain might ease off but it's still heavily cloud covered so maybe a late black and white session is on the cards.

Yep, you're right - still a far way from mastering the beast.
One thing I was concerned with was the left and right edge softness people sometimes reported getting with this lens, I'm pleased with this one, there is some, but to my untrained eye looks pretty good.

Got a mid range hole I need to fill and SRS have the Pentax 16-45 at £219 but might opt for the Sigma 17-70 as the reports are good and it's a bit faster and the reach is better.
(As soon as the Xmas plastic has cooled, that is).

Welcome......just got the same lens myself for Xmas but you have been working it harder than I, great shots, got loads of material on your doorstep - love no.6 the best, reckon it wd look good in mono also
