Taken at Dunham Massey yesterday.

C+C, and advice, welcome.

Green veined butterfly (I think, please correct if I'm wrong)

and

Fallow deer stag

and, in between, a fallow deer foal

All with the 55-300mm and very little PPing (should there be more?).

C+C please.

Have you ever been across the other side on the mound, you can get some great shots from there (and its free)
Where is it and how does one get there from M56? Was the Boeing taken from there?

You are being a little unreasonable, I feel. There is enormous DOF in this picture, and it was more important to get the near foreground in good focus than the lighthouse.

I agree with your comments, George, that's why I asked Simon from where it was taken - I could not work it out exactly, and I did say "slightly". I appreciate that the lighthouse is a long way away. However, to repeat my comments - a lovely image of one of my favourite places.

Lovely shot Simon, it gives me "hiraeth". Is the lighthouse slightly out of focus? Where was it taken from - the old army firing range?

Congratulations also on the Trinity House Calendar competition.

Have you ever taken shots of the Skerries and of North Stack?

All this talk of the Vulcan has made me want to boast - my brother was part of the design team for the original Vulcans and worked on the undercarriage.

Have you seen the Avro 707C at the Manchester Museum of Science and Industry? Here is a rather cluttered image

Nice shot Howard but I think a tad of sharpening is required.
Thanks Tel. How much sharpening would you recommend?

This is another angle with some sharpening - too much perhaps or still too little?

To which there may not be a simple answer - why don't DSLRs have split prism focusing screens fitted as standard(does the K-7?) similar to film SLRs? Is it because of AF?

I'm getting concerned that too many of my images are not focussed properly. I would like to fit a Katz Eyes focusing screen to my K10D but I'm a clumsy individual and all thumbs so I won't dare, also the cost is a bit prohibitive.

As I said - a simple question.

Thanks in advance.

I'm glad there is somebody else of the same opinion - the thought of "emperor's new clothes" also went through my mind.

I'll also have to look at his work with open heart, mind and eyes.

Did anyone notice whether he was shooting Pentax, Canon or Nikon?
in the programme Leicas and Canons were mentioned and it showed his collection of Leicas.

As has been said many times on the forum it's all a case of personal taste. I just wondered what other people thought.
