Cheers, Kris.
Then you took it first 'cos I had the last one...

So true George!

But season's greetings to you benjikan and I hope your customers are all paying their bills in the current climate!

So not much below Full HD (which is around 2MP IIRC). If the K30D could just expand resolution, FPS and buffering slightly then the video mode is certainly on its way.

I'm not sure what you mean by "normal" so I'm guessing you mean "P" (Program) mode. In which case it will seem to be acting in a similar fashion to auto, but the camera will let you override its decisions in "P" whereas you can't in auto. For instance, if you change the aperture the camera will adjust the shutter to match, or vice-versa.

If you're not talking about Program mode then I have no idea!

Well I hold by my previous suggestion in that case; the MX should be marginally quieter than the others in theory but nowhere near as quiet as a rangefinder would be. Having said that, compared to a 67 it would be the proverbial church mouse!

The only way to get a rangefinder and keep the Pentax connection would be to buy a Leica-M mount body (Leica, Voigtlander, Minolta, etc) and the Special Edition Pentax-L 43mm / f1.9* (the only Pentax lens made in Leica-M mount). It would be an expensive way of doing things; £659 for the lens, then you'd still have to buy a body - a working Leica M3 sells for around £300, a Voigtlander Bessa R2 around £150, a Minolta CLE around £450 and the Konica HEXAR RF for around £475.

But it depends on how much you value the rangefinder's silence?

Good luck finding something suitable though.

* By the way, if I could only have one lens on a 35mm camera it would almost certainly be the 43mm - it's extraordinarily good!

Thanks for that Vic, I've never used a Pentax medium format camera so I don't know the lens ranges all that well. I think the 645 would still be too big for the OP's needs though...

If you wish to compare specifications / sizes / accessories / etc for all the generations of Pentax camera then this is the best place to start: Link

As for prices on eBay, these are a few that have sold recently to give you an idea:

MX

Recently serviced, good condition, case, eye cup, two (boxed) focus screens, M28/f3.5 lens (with original metal hood). No winder though. Sold for £79.00.

Body only, good condition with manual. Sold for £34.50.

Winder (MX) only, mint condition, working. Sold for £16.00.

M-28mm / f2.8 lens in good condition with case. Sold for £30.01.

ME Super

Body only, good working order (sold by a forum member!). Sold for £26.00.

Winder (ME II) only, good working order. Sold for £17.25.

For lens, see under "MX" section above.

Super A (Super PROGRAM in USA)

Body only, excellent working condition. Sold for £41.00.

The Super A is compatible with the winder ME II so see above for price.

A-28mm / f2.8 lens. Good clean condition. Sold for £37.66.

That should give you an idea but prices vary wildly depending on a number of factors so you'll have to do your own investigations - good luck!

I don't know the answer to that, but if you contact their customer service I'm sure they'd tell you. I've never had problems in the past ordering from US retailers like Adorama and B&H, so I don't see any reason why it'd be problematic going the other way.

It really is a sign of how far the pound has slipped when residents of the US look over here for bargains!

Whilst I wouldn't want to do a whole archive of slides / negatives I can see the appeal of scanning, say, a hundred or so of my best from days of yore.

For those sorts of numbers though it'd probably be cheaper to pay someone else to do them (compared to the price of buying a scanner outright).

I've shot 8 rolls of film this year and had them all scanned and put onto CD at the time of processing - quite a nice compromise.
