Dust on the focus screen won't effect your images so unless they're really annoying you I'd suggest leaving them. If you must clean it then I'd suggest first trying to blow the dust out using a Rocket Blower; if that doesn't work you can remove the screen but be very very careful not to touch it as it will scratch very easily - and scratches are a lot more annoying than dust is!

I tend to shoot RAW and keep RAW. If I want to use a photo (for print or posting online) then I'll develop it, do what's neccessary with the JPEG, then delete the JPEG. You can always make another JPEG from the RAW file but you can't make a RAW file from a JPEG...

With memory so cheap these days think about getting another (external?) hard drive for storing your photos on, then it won't matter if you don't have so much room on your main drive.

I think it was Jacobs a week or so ago but they all got bought up quick by forum members.

Have you (or any other PU member) got any particular ideas on any M or K series lens that would be of particular interest to try out on the K7? I've got a fair selection from the common to the not so common, and as I've only got 15 miles to travel, I can quite easily bring them along if I've got a copy or a near cousin if not.
I'd be interested in how the K-7 meters with faster manual lenses (say f/2 and faster) as that's one area the K10D and K20D struggle with. Also, can you use manual lenses in video mode and, if so, does the camera compensate for changing light levels as you open/close the iris during recording?

I look forward to reading your findings!

I started a new slew of eBay auctions last night:

Hefty's eBay goodies

Not too much for the avid Pentaxian this week but the lack of quantity is made up for in quality! There are two 50mm f/2.8 lenses in M42 mount - one a Steinheil Cassar S (one of the best 50's ever made) and the other an Isco Iscotar (an average performer wide open but one with its own cable release socket making it perfect for bellows and tubes).

Non-Pentax wise there's also a brace of pre-war Contax rangefinders (a II and a III) and Sonnars to match (both 50's; a 1.5 and a collapsible 2), a couple of Edixa M42 mount cameras (the Flex is mint), a wonderful, wonderful, wonderful, wonderful Praktina IIA outfit with Zeiss and Schacht lenses, a Kodak Retinette 1B with nice Rodenstock glass and an Olympus XA2 outfit almost as-new.

Hopefully next week will turn up more Pentax stuff but it's been a bit thin on the ground the last couple of weeks. Thanks for looking anyway!

A wise move - I don't think you'll regret it

I've not been over to uksaabs for ages, I was a regular on saabcentral for a long time but not been there much lately either. Got a pair of notchback moose deflectors m'self. This is my daily driver:

There aren't many cars I'd swap her for but a rally prepped 99... My arm could be twisted!

The D-FA 100 is very well built (plastic, but good grade stuff), very light (about the same size and weight as the 18-55 kit lens give or take), has Quick-Shift (enough to win it for me on its own) and a clamp (very useful for repro work). As it's almost always used manually the lack of a limiter has made no difference to me whatsoever.

I also considered Sigma and Tamron offerings (because they were cheaper) but if I could start again I'd still go for the Pentax every single time. They may all be about the same optically but I think the Pentax is much, much nicer to actually use - ergonomics count for a lot to me.

I'm a true Nikonian apparently...

So anyone want to p/x a well loved K10D/MX combo against a D700/F2?
