Hi, sorry if this is a stupid question or has been asked before, but is there any issue with using IRND filters with film as opposed to ordinary ND filters; ie do they produce any unwanted cast or effects?

I've read they are optimised for digital to block out IR light which affects sensors, and using ordinary ND filters can leave a cast on digital images, but does this create any problem when used vice versa?

As I shoot both film and digi wanted to avoid having to buy both sorts if possible.

Just checking.

If I may add a further voice of hope, I'm in Japan at the moment, and last night on prime-time TV (during the Man Utd V Yokohama match) there was a full-length commercial for the Pentax Q, - here's to hoping for a growth in similar promotional activity, particulaly in Europe and the US.
The closing shot in the ad was the Pentax logo with the line 'Pentax - a Ricoh company' so looks like they are still sticking with that for the moment.

If it's any further comfort to Peter, film is still very much alive over here; all the local dev and print shops very much in business, selling and D&P-ing film.

Yep, agree , just watched it - fascinating. Makes one wonder: if she had selected the images seen by the public, what would she have chosen?

Thanks, I'll watch that with interest.

There is also a page with some info to whet the appetite about her and her work here:link

I think there was a discussion on this forum about her work a while ago, unless I'm confusing her with someone else.

H.

I'm off over there for a few weeks July into August; been many times before but not travelled around that extensively to be honest.

I'll second all the above and add Asakusa in Tokyo, try wandering some of the little streets around there as well as the main temple complex, some of them are quite quaint especially near the small amusement park. Tokyo Sky Tree opened last year and might be an experience, but I think you need to book tickets a day or two before you go up, at least you did last year. For a different eating experience try the Yurakucho area next to Tokyo station, lots of unusual eateries under the railways arches known as the 'gardoshita', worth seeing even if you don't plan to eat there.

Kyoto is a must see, but also check out Nara while you are down there, nice parklands with friendly deer.

I'll second the comments above about the bugs that time of year, take mozzy repellant, also it can still be quite hot even in late September but there can also be typhoons then so be prepared for a mixed bag of weather! For a rainy day in Toky head for the Tokyo museum of photography, sometimes have some excellent exhibitions on.

Good heavens Peter, thats quite a stash.

Are you thinking of putting any on the market to free up some space? I do keep an eye open for bargain out-of-date 120 and 5X4 film for 'experiments'.

How did you do it? I can't see the option on the My BT page? Am I looking in the wrong bit?
