BBC2 :: imagine... - Summer 2013
Vivian Maier: Who Took Nanny's Pictures?

Possibly of no interest to Pentaxians, because she only had
one lens and didn't suffer from LBA She also
had a camera that only took 12 photos and was MF only.....
so she didn't have an AF system that was as fast as Conikon
for shots of children etc. All she did was take
photgraphs Didn't even do HDR

Just in case you are remotely interested and missed
this program on BBC2 last night here's the iPlayer link.

The person who also owns a lot of her stuff (John Maloof) wasn't on the
program, but has a few news videos on his blog LINK.

Thanks, I'll watch that with interest.

There is also a page with some info to whet the appetite about her and her work here:link

I think there was a discussion on this forum about her work a while ago, unless I'm confusing her with someone else.

Yep, agree , just watched it - fascinating. Makes one wonder: if she had selected the images seen by the public, what would she have chosen?

I wondered that too. Plus what would she have thought of the printing? Did they say that some of the images had been cropped as well?

If you're into street you need to watch this. She was so brave. Thank you for posting.
As for me, all I know is that I know nothing.

It started off ok apart from the usual ramjam mu-sick which ruins all these sort of programmes then after a minute or so I got the error message insufficient band width but I'll take everyone's word for it that she was someone special.

Thanks for the link Algi, have looked at the 1st New York. It's amazing how even the most improbable image just work. Some inspirational stuff on there.

Very interesting documentary. I liked the idea she met dali, hcb and brassai and then set off around the world on a grest adventure...

To reopen a very old thread, there's a new film out.

BBC IMDB

It's on at the Edinburgh Filmhouse so I think it will be the perfect place to spend a wet Saturday!
