I have a K10D with kit lens and DA50-200 the auto focus is spot on. However when I use the Tamron 28-300 the focus is not quite as it should be. Now, following the previous comments on this thread somewhere in the K10D is a menu for setting individual lens focus points. But where on earth is it buried? and how do I adjust for the Tamron and leave the Pentax glass alone? Or should I bury the K10 and stretch out for a K20?

Check the links/comments on this thread

There's a link to K10 adjustment stuff!

I've not had a SD card fail, but I have had CF cards die in the past.

I tend to wait until a 'size' has been around for a while before buying. That way the early flitches should be sorted a nd the cards reliable.

Having just bought a 8Gb card I'm slightly worried about loosing a lot of work, so I've started backing up whilst away from home on my MP3 player.

I thought this was a PENTAX forum!!!

I feel so much better knowing I'm not the only Zenit owner on here.

By the way Hefty, my Zenit 12XP weighs a ton but can be used hand held down to 30th/second, must be the weight that damps any vibration!

I hadn't thought of keeping a set 'off site' so to speak, maybe that is paranoid (cue Black Sabbath!!!) but a damn good idea!

To follow on from Chris, I tend to archive in both RAW and JPEG in a named, dated folder.

That way I can tell where and when the shots were taken.

For clarity I also record in a word doc in the same folder the specific time/dates relevant to the group.

This all gets saved on Internal/external HDDs and CD/DVDs.

Can't be too careful!

I wasn't suggesting he goes for a Tamron, he has the Sigma version anyway!

Like you, Scott, I can't see a reason to get a bigger lens as Paul already has a Tamron 200-400.

I'm just interested in what others would recommend!

Other than a solid tripod to cut camera shake that is.

if you can afford it the pentax da* 300mm is a cracker or maybe the sigma 50-500mm or 150-500mm or the Tamron 70-200mm F/2.8 Di LD (IF) Macro, all are quality lenses
and the chance of a second mortgage to pay for any of these is about as probable as knitting fog!!

Seriously, I found the Tamron 70-300 clear and sharp on my K110d, which is the same sensor as your K100d.

But on a 10 meg I can't get it to work as well, so I'm watching this thread with interest.

The last SMC-A 50 f1.7 I got came attached to my £12 P30!

It wasn't listed and was a VERY pleasant surprise, needles to say it was in mint condition and gets used on all my bodies!
