Nice camera with good image quality Jack, a bit heavy on the wallet at the moment though, besides I have 2 Pentax DSLR bodies and an Optio E50 so guess where my loyalties stand....

Although if the price was lower I could be persuaded by a new Pen, after all there's an adaptor for K to 4/3rds!

I'd quite likely give up the DSLR game and get the best compact come range-finder type I could afford.
That'll be an Olympus E-P1 then!

I have several other makes that I use from time to time, AGFA, KODAK, Zenit, even an Olympus.

All are 'obsolete', but work well, some 50 years on!

So no need to leave Pentax, just look after what I have and keep using them.

That includes the Spotmatics!

Thanks for the replies. I was wondering if a firmware upgrade would help it is very evident that it is a preset cut off, as with many devices because as I say we have a Canon that has no problem but we also have a radio that runs on AA's and it's not at all happy with a nominal 2.5 volts from rechargeables working far better with 3v from dry cells.

Sorry to upset you John, there aren't any firmware upgrades for the K200d!

I use 2300 NiMh cells in mine and have no problems, the fully charged set returning well over 100 shots. Try what's been suggested and if it doesn't improve contact Pentax or your camera supplier about the problem.

One point to remember is that 'standard' card readers don't read SDHC cards, you need a dedicated one for that.

If your memory card is 4GB or bigger it'll be a SDHC one, so unless your VERY lucky and your reader is brand new, you may have to use the USB cable way to down load for the time being, until you get a compatible reader.

It is entirely possible that Pentax could be bought up by not only a major electronics manufacturer but even by a competitor.
So long as it's not Ca***, they would redesign everything, double the price and kill off the K mount in favour of their own.

This is my sort of picture, quirky and off the wall.

If it wasn't for the red bottle it would be nothing.

Nice feel of depth as well.
