It is a little gem.
I used one on my MX for years as a lightweight travel combo and took some of my favourite shots with it.
I only retired the 40 when Pentax brought out the 43 Ltd
R
I tried one, didn't like it and sold it.
I may try another if the price was right, but at current rates that's going to be a long way off!

Only at the fact that the 40 wasn't, as everybody on ebay seems to think, a rare lens!
In the past I have bought from them, a couple of M series manuals, and have no complaint as to there service or description.
Having said that the prices are top end on most of their listings, I must try an offer next time...

I see that emeliaarts are selling no less than 5 of these 'rare' lenses, need I say more!
When Womble sees this thread he'll come up with a current value.

I feel the lens is over rated and over priced, I prefer either of the 50s to the 40.
But that's just my view, personally I wouldn't pay more than £50 for one, they're like buses, if you miss one another will be along soon.

I keep seeing adaptors to use M42 and K mount lenses on Canon and Nion bodies.
If the glass was crass would these exist?

Thanks to all for the (interesting?) window into your lives.
Oh and don't forget to add your location....

This is the cheaper L version, which doesn't have a hood (or case) supplied - and the construction isn't as good as the other version
In all other respects it performs just as well as a standard DA 55-300.
