Quick query - will an SMC F 50mm function fully when mounted on my K10D body?

I understand it is an auto focus lens, though I'm not sure it will work with contemepory digital bodies.

Thanks in advance (1st post here!)

I would just send the pics. Can't bear slide-shows. Too fussy.

I know what you mean - perhaps rather than a fixed slideshow, it would be nice to present (as a CD) a menu with the option to play as a slideshow or select individual images from indexed thumbs - pretty key to all this is to have them appear against a dark background.

Pictures To Exe is a superb program that costs very little. A trial of free and if you like it you can pay the modest license fee for a lifetime of updates.

OK I gave it a go but found (aside from irritating limitations of the trial version) that the IQ was seriously compromised with either blurring ie loss of sharpness or perculiar artefacts such as cross hatching in sky areas etc

hmmm

What slideshow software do you use?

I've got to send a selection of photos to a gallery in Paris who are interested in exhibiting some of my work - I'm just at a loss on how best to present it. Basically, what I want to do is knock together a flash-based presentation with indexed thumbnails against a black background - with the option to run them as a full frame slide show.

If anyone has any ideas about relatively easy to use software packages (preferably free!) that can output to CD it'd much appreciated!

Please only post once, not in multiple locations on the forum. Thanks.
Yep sorry about that John, only did so as I'd realised I'd initially posted in a more specialised sub forum

GOLDEN, CO. (August 6, 2007) PENTAX Imaging Company has opened the doors of www.pentaxphotogallery.com to give PENTAX shooters around the world the opportunity to be represented in the gallery and share their most defining moments of photography. This virtual Photo Gallery is the first of its kind to offer space for passionate PENTAX photographers to exhibit their work, share and gain resources within an artistic community, create an online portfolio, and more.

“For decades, PENTAX collected the best images captured with our cameras and published the work annually in an historical, coffee table-type, book collection,” said Ned Bunnell, Vice President Marketing, PENTAX Imaging Company. “Now we are taking things in a new direction with the PENTAX Photo Gallery that offers 24/7/365 virtual access to the best photography captured by PENTAX photographers.”

Unlike most photo sharing websites, www.pentaxphotogallery.com is an original website that was designed exclusively for Pentaxians by PENTAX Imaging Company. PENTAX photographers may submit work for display and become part of an online photography community that reflects a collaborative archive of talent. Biographies of each photographer help reveal the personalities behind each lens.

With limitless virtual capacity, the PENTAX gallery already features more than 2,500 images submitted by more than 300 artists. Photographers range from 16 to 80 years of age and hail from more than 40 countries throughout Europe; Asia; the Middle East; North, South and Central Americas; Africa; and the Pacific Rim. The gallery offers site navigation in six languages: English, Spanish, German, French, Japanese, and Italian.

Featuring a search engine that locates images according to camera bodies and individual lenses (as well as photographer and subject category), the gallery educates budding photographers about the creative capabilities offered by the vast array of PENTAX digital SLR lenses.

PENTAX photographers interested in more information regarding submitting work to the gallery may email: [email protected]">[email protected]. An informative flash demonstration of this process is also available at: http://extranet.texturemedia.com/pentax/photogallery/demo2/demo.html

Van Morrison used to hang out at a cafe near my old school, and as school kids we'd plague him with lame renditions of his life's work. Needless to say he was perpetually (and unsurprisingly) in a bad mood - at least during lunch breaks.

Great shot by the way - K10D + PENTAX SMC 50-200mm F4-5.6 DA ED sans flash? What ISO was that at, noise looks very well controlled.

Has anybody ever tried building a home made buffer for the mirror?
Sounds like a mod too far. A recipe for catastrophe, I wouldn't mess with the shutter/mirror mechanism.

Unless i misunderstand - do you mean something other than physically dampening the mirror action?

this be it? https://www.pentaxuser.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5015

I hear you about the operating noise though, when handling a powered up K10D in a shop a few weeks ago I was quite taken aback by the AF motor alone (though the mirror slap didnt sound any worse than other SLRs I've handled).

Compared to my aging EOS 300 with kit lens it is surprisingly noisy, I felt

I got the Tamron 70-300 at the same time as the K10D, from Jessops, for £99. Haven't really used it much yet, although I have tried a few macro shots in the garden which looked absolutely fine. Also printed off an A4 taken at 70mm which was fantastic. (Upped the sharpness +2 and the contrast +1). It's a bit noisier than the 18-55 kit lens when focussing, but I expect that's to do with the design/size of the lens rather than the manufacturer.
Right. That's just the deal I've been presented with - along with the grip for an additional £99, bringing the total to £700 for

K10D body
Grip
Kit Pentax lens (18-50mm)
Tamron 70-300mm f/4-5.6 Di LD Macro

Sound good?

The cosmetics of the Samsung GX10 and the Pentax K10D cameras are slightly different, but the body internals are designed and made by Pentax, the Samsung variant has its own firmware too. I think the same is true of the Schneider lenses in that the glass and internal mechanics are one and the same, only the external casing/livery is different.
Quote:
The point is that they aren't different manufactrers - the Schneider lenses are made by Pentax in the Pentax factory. The different cosmetic arrangement is purely that.
understood now i think thanks!
