Thanks, I agree with all the comments, in my enthusiasm, to test it in a real life situation, I got carried away and I did not pay enough(any) attention to stopping the lens down, which I knew was required for finding the sweet spot.

Thanks, I will redo the test with more application of mind and will also do a brick wall tomorrow when the sun is right.

Hi,

Well I tried my new (Second-hand) lens out yesterday and I must say I was expecting sharper pictures than I got. I used a tripod (Manfrotto) but not a remote cable release. The exposure was fine using the green button, and the distance from the subject was about 10m. The green Hex focus confirmation light was on but I can not be sure of the F stop I used

Please have a look at link and tell me what you think, they are not works of art but a lens test.

Thanks for the comments,

I've been using my Canon 8400F for scanning negatives in the past but I thought that by coping them using a bellows unit and my K200D that I would get a better quality than the scanner gives, now you tell me otherwise.

I shall have to do some reading on on the subject

Barrie, The O-ME53 consists if two lenses, if you remove the screws holding the eyecup rubber, the lenses are loose.

Gregmoll - did you get the diagonal split prism. I thought these were usually for the K1000 and not very bright, so might affect metering.
Yes the diagonal screen, I've never done a back to back comparision of the metering between the two.

I bought my split focusing screen from them, they are not the best of correspondents but the goods were delivered as per order and the screen works.

With my old eyes I can not do without the magnifying eye cup, especially with my old lenses, I've modified mine to take an eye cup, here it is fitted to my ME

Examining the photo I think I must clean it up with an sharp knife
