Thanks John for your encouragement. My mother owned this camera from new and looked after it. The bellows were repaired about 40 years ago and still open out fully. Whether they will keep out the light I won't know until I put a film through.

This was my mother's camera. It dates from the 1930's and take 120 roll film. Last used by me in 1983. Perhaps I should buy a roll of film and try it again?

My wife and I met up with some friends for a walk in Ickworth Park Suffolk. This a photo of their son Hugo enjoying his bicylce. Minutes later as we reached the bottom end of the park his bike became absolutely caked in mud.Comment Image

It's a rather nice result from 'on-board' flash, which after all is supposed to be so harsh and blunt as to be practicality unusable!

There's nice natural colour and good exposure control. There doesn't really seem to be much ambient exposure at all, mostly only flash exposure. I'm curious to know which camera mode did you use, and did you specifically reduce ambient exposure and flash compensation settings .... ?

The truth is, it's extremely rare to see a shot taken in this particular technical manner on the forum.
I always shoot RAW and AV mode. Settings used were RAW, AV, f4, 45mm, ISO 200 & 1/30th sec exposure. I use flash only when I need to as I nearly always shoot handheld. It was a little after 8am on a dark and overcast morning. I didn't alter ambient exposure and my flash was set for zero (so no compensation reduction) and it worked perfectly. I find the flash on my K-30 works very well for me and I usually find I need to turn it down to -0.7 for best results. By comparison I'm not so lucky with the built in flash on my Panasonic TZ compact. That is virtually unusable.

Thanks both

From RAW I darkened the exposure by a little and then sharpened it every so slightly and that was it. Given that it was overcast and and required on board flash for this handheld image I'm more than pleased with how it turned out.

Testing my newly acquired DA16-45 I took this photo before it was really light this morning.

Lens has arrived and very securely packaged. I've tested it and it is meeting my expectations. Thanks Bruce

Yes the shadow is deliberate. The car is parked opposite a long tall brick wall that has an entrance into a courtyard eating area. and if you look closely another car parked alongside the wall is reflected too.
