Some what disappointing I think 5 out of the current 15 entries appear not to have been shot this month!

Another entry has magically been shot in future .

Updated until 15/06/15

There is an interesting article on the Register today that looks at the alternatives to Photoshop although I think its aimed more at the professional end of the market. You can see the article here.

As an aside I am a user of both Lightroom (LR4 then LR5) and Photoshop Elements (PSE4 to PSE10). I started as a beginner with PSE and now I am probably a sort of mid-range enthusiast. I have migrated to shooting in RAW and use LR to perform the initial processing of these. However I still use PSE quite a lot and would recommend that PSE is a still a good place to start.

Just a reminder that you have only got until till Saturday if you want to participate in this competition.

So far, disappointingly, we only have three entries.

Some of my lenses, the Samsung re-badged Pentax lenses, have blue rings.

As is traditional I will stop looking in here once the first image is posted so that any of your comments do not influence the results.

Probably not. The button on the K3 has two functions. Management of 2 cards (blue legend) and switching the direction buttons between selecting the focus point or enabling the function buttons (white legend). I think the symbol we can see is for switching the direction button functions and is exactly how this is done on the K5 as shown on theses two quick grabs:

K3 on the left & K5 on the right

Back in the spring of this year I was also looking for a good quality travel tripod and in end bought a Red Snapper. I am very pleased with it. I thought it was comparable to the BeFree, at a more reasonable price and definitely has a hook!

I was looking for something fairly lightweight that I could carry on my shoulders when out on my bicycle and the Red Snapper more that adequately met my requirements.

I also went for the included ball-head offer which you can see here.
