mirrorless with a k mount adapter makes the most sense, otherwise the bulk savings would be minimal and you might as well stick to an slr design.

generally you'll be ok as far as depth of field go. but the lens should gain in terms of the sharpness it can provide at apertures around f/8, typically.

hi all,

i don't use my 50/1.4 pentax-m for much. i'd quite like a 135/3.5 pentax-m as a compact telephoto option for when my 200/2.8 is too heavy to lug around.

a face to face trade in the netherlands would be best, but i'm open to posting it anywhere in europe if i can't find someone local.

failing a trade, i'm willing to buy a 135/3.5.

thanks for reading!

they do have a pocket designed for a water bottle, and that's where i was hoping i might be able to put my 200mm. but i'm guessing that a 500ml water bottle is close to the size of the 200mm (without hood), but the 200mm would be about 300g heavier than a typical water bottle.

i'm liking the look of the hoodie that they do as an alternative now. much more casual, and seems quite useable.

thank for the comment, gwyn—it's good to know that they have a positive reputation.

hi all,

i like to travel light, with a camera around the neck, and two primes in two pockets.

but i'm going on a trip when i really want to have my 200/2.8 with me (with hood). i have a suitable camera bag, but i wonder whether i can travel without it.

i don't like the look of the professional camera jackets—a casual looking jacket would be far prefereable. something lightweight would be nice, so i can use it in either the summer or the winter.

so i stumble around, and i can only find this: scottevest travel jacket.

does anyone have any experience with this jacket? does anyone have any alternative suggestions?

thanks for any input!

I think they are referring to perspective, which would differ greatly depending if one zoomed with a zoom or zoomed with their feet and a prime. Perhaps not a big issue in landscape photography due to the great distances, but very important for closer-up stuff.
but i think what simon is getting at is that you can also zoom with your feet if you have a zoom. just because you can zoom with your zoom, it doesn't mean that you have to...

Hi Wouter,

Thanks for the tip, but believe me, I'm looking everywhere I can. I check multiple fora and eBay at least once a day!

Err- buy a decent Sony body and keep the lens.

Lenses are better than bodies so why sell it?

Best regards
Minolta manual focus lenses won't fit on a Sony. Minolta adopted a whole new mount when they went from manual focus to autofocus in the 80s, and it's really difficult to get the old manual focus Minoltas onto autofocus Minolta and Sony bodies.

The only way any DSLR can take the old Rokkors while focusing to infinity involves a mount swap, with a possible infinity adjustment, or shaving bits of the lens too. It's an effort, but a few of the Rokkors are worth the effort, e.g. any of the 85mm lenses, and especially the 58/1.2, which I'd prefer even over a 50/1.2 Pentax-A.

Anyway, back to the OP, I reckon the Samyang was a good move. Hope you have fun with it!

I realise it's still a long shot, but I'm still looking for one of these...

Please do get in touch if you're interested. I can involve a swap with a 200/2.8 DA* in excellent condition if you are interested, or can pay cash too.
