I'll tell you what, Andy—I'll do a straight swap, my 15/4 for your 31/1.8...

i'm on the prowl for one of these old manual focus lenses as a cheap way to get to 300mm with a relatively fast max aperture. it's this specific one that i want, partly because it's the only one i can afford, so please don't try and convince me to go for another lens!

if you've got one going, please let me know!

thanks!

You could find a Vivitar 28mm f/2 for cheap enough. But I wouldn't shoot is at f/2 except in an emergency.
Why not? Are you saying that f2.0 isn't fast?
i think he means that the image quality isn't the greatest at f/2.

i'm half tempted by a cheap second body, especially as the k-x would complement the k-7 with regards to low light shooting. would be good if one of these came down to a mega affordable price!

I go further and say it's really the only reason to shoot Pentax. Value for money used to be a second reason, but Pentax are pricing themselves out of that realm.
yeah, well, that's why i changed to pentax too from sony-minolta. the da limiteds were just too tempting.

i have woken up now and come to my senses. don't worry everyone!

well, i do love the iq of the pentax primes, and there's no way i'd ever let go of my 200/2.8.

i have to say that the reason i stay with pentax lenses is because their primes are unique. i would rather have a tamron 17-50/2.8 than a pentax 16-50/2.8 because i am unsure of the sdm. i know that there is a good probability that i won't have these problems, but i really like being 100% confident in my equipment.

mind you, mr john riley, i do think a good like down in a darkened room would do me good. i've had one too many, and i can't think of a scenario where my lenses have let me down...

off to my darkened room then, sleep tight.

thinking of changing my 15/4, 35/2.8 and 70/2.4 da limiteds, but thinking of selling for a fast f/2.8 zoom, say a 17-50/2.8 sigma os or something....

silly idea?

yeah, it's those extra few stops in dr that are tempting me too...

well, i was just thinking that new 50/1.2s are available in japan, the 1.7x af tc is avaiable in japan, and it's hard to find elsewhere. and i suspect it's one of the only places to find the voigtlander 125mm and 180mm, which i believe to be among the finest lenses ever constructed (along with minoltas 135mm stf, but i digress!).

i just wondered if there were any other gems out there. i am sorely tempted by a 180mm voigtlander. especially since i think that my 200/2.8 is more valuable than one, and that is one of the rare lenses that i would call close to perfection.
