You do have to watch the cost if you go abroad. Most of the providers don't include roamed minutes and it can work out to be expensive. We have 8 or 10 of them at work and we have seen bills between £2-3000 (per device)!!!

I really like it - I think it would make an excellent desktop wallpaper.

Why does the upper right hand portion of the frame seem blurred? Is it an effect or result of a windy day etc.?

I'd really like to submit an entry this week but will be away in a couple of weeks (and almost certainly offline). While I don't have any expectation of winning this week IF I did I would be unable to fulfill my judging duties.

What's the normal practice? Should I simply not submit an entry or has this bridge been crossed in the past?

Some work-friends and I have an 'informal' photogrpahy club and hold our own photo competitions etc.

This time the theme is portraits and we have until the end of the month to take and submit three each.

This (I think) is the first of mine. Looking for some feedback...

I think that's one of the strengths of this format IMO.

Some work collegaues and I did a 'friendly photo competition' a couple of weeks ago. We got together in central London and agreed rules about equipment we could and couldn't use, focal lengths permitted, time and categories of photo allowed. It was a great laugh (especially with all the drinking we did along the way) but there wasn't much scope for interpretation or creativity within the categories.

I thought it was a left/right brain thing? The lefties (I think) are inately artistic with skills in music, art and composition (words that is). Righties tend to be accountants and IT Managers.

Photography may fall more into the middle ground as something which can be learned or copied. I could 'copy' the composition of a great photograph and get it almost right - I couldn't copy a great drawing or painting!

A friend and colleague of mine takes jaw-droppingly good pictures (I have seen 20 or more which are just stunning - wildlife mainly). I would love to create just one like that!

Hello everyone

I have been lurking here for a while - thought it was about time I said hello.

I've been interested in photography in for some time and used film SLRs in the 90s. I was thinking of getting back into SLR photography and then couldn't resist the value of the K10!

I work in IT and so qualify as a bit of a geek. I understand technology and also have a reasonable grasp of the 'theory' of photography but generally take crap pictures! I don't think I have the eye for it.

Still, I'm looking forward for the chance to practice and improve.
