Interesting thread, I took just my Samyang f1.4 - 85mm lens for a walk-about in Inverness yesterday.

I tried to use f1.4 for most shots, but had to close down when the sun made it's infrequent appearances.

I haven't had this lens long, but I wanted to see what it could do, I'm liking it a lot.

Another option?

I bought my Mum & Dad a digital photo frame, as they weren't computer 'adept', so all they have to do is switch it on and the pictures appear.

What we do now when there is new pictures, is to swap the SD cards in the post.

I put the new images on a card, and send it off, they swap the card and send the old one back, job done !

Maybe not, but the Suzuki Hayabusa may give it a run for the money

Hi Don, I found this at the Royal Highland Show in Edinburgh today, a bit more useful than your 'Yam' ?

The guy said, "Don't wheelie it, or the coffin will fall out, but it's great for camping, and there is a secret compartment underneath for beer".

I think I have found the perfect motorcycle ! ( that's me on it, I think the owner would rather I was 'in' it

I can put a lens on my K7 and take it off the 'A' position and it will stop-down when I press the 'green' button or operate the DoF preview, in manual mode, and it stops down when taking a picture.

When I put it on the extension tubes it won't stop-down anymore, I thought there may be an issue with the tubes, but when I try them on my K10D and istDS it works as I would expect, stopping down to what ever aperture I set.

Am I missing something withe the K7 ?

May or may not help, but, first picture is with a A 50mm f1:1.2 Pentax lens at f1.2 at the closest focus I could get, then a Sigma 105 Macro lens wide open at f2.8 and lastly, the Sigma 105 at f11, both at the closest focus I could get.

This should give you and idea of the difference between a normal lens and a macro lens.

If you are keen to do macro, I would go for a specialised Macro lens, not one of the zooms that claim to do 'Macro'. But you pay's your money and you take's your choice.

There are a good number of Pentax Macro lenses out there, from brand new to 30 or more year old ones that will still perform on your new digital SLR , and probably lot's more Non-Pentax that will do as good a job

This might give you an idea of the options / differences ?
