I've just this morning had problems trying to remove a dust blob. I took the lens off and gave the sensor screen a few blasts with the Giotto rocket blower, then had another look. Unfortunately although the original mark had gone, a lot more had appeared elsewhere so I then had a go with the butterfly only to find that some of the new marks that I had thought were dust had been smudged by the brush, so I reckon it was put there by the blower and is more than simple dust. Has anyone else had a similar experience and if so how did you cure it?

Thanks for the advice, I've now uploaded to version 1.31 and it all went OK.

I've noticed that PC World are selling some Pentax stuff as well. I got a DFA 100mm F2.8 Macro lens from their website for £249, nearly half the price of some other retailers.
What condition was it in? I ordered the same from Currys who are part of the same group as PC World and Dixons. I tracked the parcel which went from Lincoln to my local DHL in less than 12 hrs, then it was held there going nowhere for five days until I went and collected it myself. When I got home I had a pretty nasty surprise. I unpacked the parcel to find a tatty box with a printed red label on it that read "box for display item" and another label stating "returned." The lens itself was marked, looked far from brand new and had no lens cap. I returned it via my nearest Currys for a refund and won't buy from them again.

I know I'm a bit behind the times here but I have never updated my camera because I found the instructions hard to understand and it is still at version 1.00. I decided to have a go today and I didn't find it any easier. I used the info here but when I downloaded it nothing happened.

All I get is a couple of files appearing on my desktop, one of them is titled README in Notepad format and the other looks like it's the firmware data in a BIN file that Windows can't open.

Am I too late to do an update? I would like to have the easy option in changing the ISO setting.

Thanks, I've found my pics in drive E although it's not something I've used before so how they got there is a mystery. I'm used to plugging in and being given a choice of what to do and I would normally use a disk or Picasa. If anyone knows how I can undo this drive E-business so I can go back to what I'm used to then I would be grateful.

I'm not sure what has gone wrong here but I've got problems in saving pictures, in that I can't do it and they are stuck in my memory card. When I connect the camera up it won't download anything. Instead, as soon as I switch it on I get a small green icon in the bottom right of my pc and when I click on that, it says "Safely remove USB mass storage device - Drive E:" If I turn the camera off or disconnect it, the icon goes. I've got a K10d which I used to take the pictures so I tried putting the card in my other camera, an original K100D and that gave the same result. Any ideas, please? I'm just used to connecting up and downloading with no problems until now.

Problems over. I took the other items that were bought with the DL2 back to Jessops and their Leicester HQ have refunded me the full amount. Jessops have been brilliant which is not how I can describe Pentax. Now a warning in case you see a Pentax DL2 serial number 2062143 on sale as a refurbished item. It's my old one that failed four times so keep your money in your pocket.

Now Pentax have surprised me again!

Jessops got my recent letter advising them I'd still not received anything despite them telling me that Pentax were going to send me a new K100D. The faulty DL2 that was repeatedly repaired without success had already gone back to Pentax forever, followed by the used K100D that Pentax sent as a replacement; these both went to Pentax via Jessops.

I received a call from Jessops today telling me there was a new K100D for me in my local store. I'll believe it when I see it, was my comment. I went along to collect it and it was actually a K100D Super, only there were a couple of things that did not seem right. First, no paperback user manual book in the box; instead a CD, but that is no use when you need to adjust things if you are away from home and want to know how to do it. Then I checked the serial number on the camera against the number on the card in the box. Were they the same? Of course not. I couldn't accept the camera as there was a good chance it was another repaired item, and with my experience of Pentax "repairs," something fixed by them lasts five minutes.

I've now had to write another letter to Jessops Leicester about this, however I cannot accept Pentax sending me anything as a replacement. Why they have deliberately avoided sending me something brand new is beyond me. In fact I've said I won't accept anything else from Pentax because I now want to end this ASAP and I hope Jessops will take back the 18-55 and 50-200 lenses that came with the DL2. I have a few other Pentax items including a K100D which I bought on holiday when the DL2 packed up, but that may well become a used item for sale; I’ve not used it for ages and now I’m chasing money lost and not material items. I really have had enough.

It drags on. I contacted Jessops who agreed to send the used K100D back to Pentax. Then Pentax denied having received it, so Jessops had to check their courier receipts to prove it was sent. Once this was confirmed, Jessops told me that Pentax were going to send a new K100D but it would have to be shipped over from their warehouse in Europe and would take about five days. This was on 6 December. So far I have received nothing and I would have expected to have something by now, even allowing for the busy Christmas mail, so today I have written to Jessops to remind them of this. I don't care what I get now although I would prefer some financial compensation as my interest has gone thanks to Pentax getting the repairs of the DL2 wrong EVERY TIME, then trying to fob me off with a used item, then losing it when it was returned. .

At least most of you on here are happy with your gear. Unfortunately I can’t say the same, as I bought a useless item and ever since then I have had incompetence from Pentax. I would never send anything to them again for "repair."

Pentax NEVER AGAIN.
