Great shots. Impressive series indeed. I had no idea what to expect, before entering the thread, from that title !

Very nice set !

#2 is my favourite but I do think you'e over-cropped these and if you add in the P.P. then the effect is a slightly unnatural looking re. the KF shots - almost painting-like actually. Sometimes a little less crop and some more of the environment is not a bad thing !

Yep, wonderful shot !

Tthough maybe the red on the underside of the parrot's tail comes across as just a little too red ?

I voted maybe too.

If I was going on a trip where changing lenses and weather/atmospheric conditions could be hazardous to my camera/lenses if I had to change them often and they were not WR lenses, then I'd consider it a good option.

The negatives are of course the lower quality IQ than a DA* lens and the much higher price than a lens designed for the average user. Naturally you are paying for the convenience of the range and the WR.

I would definitely recommend the 21mm Pentax as a better "journalist and landscape" lens, though it is slightly slower, it has AF.

Best regards
You are off-setting AF/Ltd appeal vs. MF/speed/price. It's a decision that many will ponder. FWIW when you get to these FLs then AF is not absolutely necessary except in a limited number of situations anyway, and the artistic possibilities of a 24/1.4 lens are a very interesting bonus (the Samyang's are known for being very sharp wide open) as well as low light use (a huge 2+ stop difference to f3.2).

It's pretty easy to have a virtual AF lens anyway, setting the lens up at f8 and focussing at 4.5m gives you a DoF from 2.5m to infinity, at f5.6 focussing at just over 6m gives you a DoF from 3m to infinity, so you are hardly ever going to have to change those settings, whilst in the field, for landscapes / architecture / maybe some street too.
