Great set Mike - really enjoyed looking through them. #2 and #3 really stand out for me.

I like it - it beats the hell out of the view from many of the places I have eaten at
Ha ha - thanks Stuey. It is a pretty amazing view. The area of Shanghai around the river, called The Bund on one side and Lujiazui on the other, has some spectacular views. Beautiful colonial (mostly British but also American) buildings line The Bund and in Lujiazui you have some spectacular buildings like that one. Not in the picture are two of the world's tallest buildings with a third, that will be the world's 2nd highest building, still under construction. Amazing to walk around anytime day or night, but in the evening all the lights are on until 22.00 on both sides of the river.

Another vote for a 90/100 f2.8 macro lens for : macro, portraits, street & landscape (yes many landscape togs use telephotos for detail and multiple shots for stitching).

I have started to use protectmybubble.com really simple & upfront, was actually recommended by virginmobile who said they where better than their own insurance...
I just tried their quote system out ... and stopped at the K5 + DA*300+15Ltd. It had already reached 18 GBP so by the time I've insured all my lenses and cameras I would be looking at well over 50-60 GBP per month, at least !

I got a call this morning from Devon Camera Centre in Exeter. They'd got one in for me to try. I tried it and loved it and am now the proud owner of a K5. I got the 18-135mm lens kit. Not sure I picked the right lens but it's probably a better lens than I am a photographer, so I now just have to be patient while the battery charges.
Thanks for all the advice.
Frankie
Congrats Frankie - you have bought yourself a fantastic camera !

or should that be, "Enhance eyes in Photoshop cheating"
Interestingly I watched a program last week about a guy in Vietnam who is still using photographic equipment from the 1800's and calotyping - and I learnt where dodging and burning comes from. He uses his hands in the traditional way to manipulate the final image, by disturbing the light used as part of the developing process - causing areas of the photograph to become darker or lighter.

Therefore manipulation in the development of photographs has existed for a very very long time.

So move along, nothing to see here !
