I'm totally confused by all this. I can find nowhere in the manual where it says a single press is all that's required when using exposure bracketing (quite the opposite in fact) and as far as I can remember my K10D has always required the shutter button to be held down until the last bracketed exposure was taken - even when it was on the 'as supplied' firmware (pre 1.3). Am I missing something here?

Scandisk's Rescue Pro will recover deleted files. If anybody wants a copy I've got a few spare lying around.

This is what I use. I've had it donkey's years and would like to buy another one but I can't find anybody that produces them now. Just screws into the tripod hole. Anybody seen anything like it?

I have a Sigma 17-70mm fitted to my K10D and I think it works very well as a general purpose lens although I can't vouch for it's performance at weddings. If you've tried the 24-105 on the Canon 5D and found that to be about right with regard to focal lengths then then 17-70mm on the Pentax should be fine as it offers much the same FOV. (I'm sure Canon users would be most upset by your 'reasonable camera' comment for the 5D ).

That's interesting. I have a few Yashica lenses and would very much like to be able to use them on my K10D. Is it possible to buy the necessary Pentax mount and if so, anybody know where from? (sorry for hi-jacking the thread David )

I would suggest that the 24-70 and the 28-70 will not be wide enough at the wide end if you're interested in shooting indoors. I have the Sigma 17-70 fitted to my K10D and although I'm not exactly blown away by the results from it, I do find it very capable as a general walk about lens.

If it's a wide angle you're looking for and have found that your Pentax 18-55 isn't really up to what you want at the wide end, then I doubt the Sigma 17-70 or any of the others you've mentioned are going to do much for you either. The Sigma 10-20mm would seem a more obvious choice especially as it will allow for some 'overlap' with your 18-55mm albeit small

Sigma 17-70mm (then the 10-20mm)

Thanks Kim. I'm going to ask my friend if he'll let me try all the lens and if I think I can use any of them I'll make him an offer based on what John has said. Thanks again.
