hello,

im having problems with "AEB" on my new K10D

I have set the aeb frames to 5 and exposure to +2 ev and put the camera into aperture priority with a 2 second shutter delay but the camera refuses to take continuous 5 shots as per the manual.

I have upgraded the firmware to the latest version, reset the camera, tried continuous shooting mode , various manual modes, made sure all the other settings are default , turned cam shake mode on & off , changed the metering and focus modes , changed from 5 frames to 3 frames and decreased the AEB ev levels down one at a time but i just cant get it shoot 3 or 5 frames with one press of the shutter release button. Does anyone know what im doing wrong?!

I assume it is the same as on the Ds - you have to keep the shutter pressed until all the frames are taken. Lift your finger off before that and it will stop taking the photos. Same if using a remote control.

HI Gwyn, thanks for the reply , according to the user manual i shoudlnt have to keep my finger held on the shutter button - the push is all that should be reqd?

You need to keep the shutter button pressed down. I would use a cable release as it will stop some shake.

The manual is incorrect about only needing one press, I have tried and tried but only found keeping the button down works.

Rgds,

Gary.

Pressing the button once worked with the original firmware, but if you upgraded to firmwdare 1.30, you need to keep the shutter button down for all the sequence to go thru, or release manually for every single shot of the sequence.

all becomes clear now!

Thanks.

If you keep the button pressed on either remote it will take all the shots, but again not if you only press once.
Weird that they changed it in the firmware update though.

I don't know either why they changed it, but on the K20D, you can set it either way. Go figure....

gwyn my first K10d has had to go back due to a fault and i have not had a chance to test the auto bracketing with a cabled remote can you please test this function and let me know if it definitely works as i have the offer of a full refund on the camera?? By the way i had the latest firmware installed.

Many thanks.

FYI, the normal button and the cabled remote allow me to hold the button down and cycle through bracketed photos.
The IR remote requires that I click for each photo.

For extended bracketing (white balance, sharpness, contrast, etc...) I have to press the button each time regardless of how I take the photo (wired, internal or IR remote).

I have firmware 1.30.

Howabout "autoexposure bracketing?" i understand that if i use a cabled shutter release i can just keep the button held down and it will shoot all 5 shots in a row?

I'm totally confused by all this. I can find nowhere in the manual where it says a single press is all that's required when using exposure bracketing (quite the opposite in fact) and as far as I can remember my K10D has always required the shutter button to be held down until the last bracketed exposure was taken - even when it was on the 'as supplied' firmware (pre 1.3). Am I missing something here?
Steve.
