From my non qualified brain it sounds like the batteries are chipped or possibly not. This action by manufacturers will ensure maximum efficiency from both charging and usage of their batteries but also ensure you use only the manufacturers own batteries. There is info on the net and it maybe your batteries are ok but there is also no guarantee that all three units were made in the same factories to identical standards. For us its a bit of a mine field as the price of oem batteries are so high. Of course my guess could be wrong and they may just be duff.

I have had the same thought but assumed that in their design they probably assumed movement in the scene over a time longer than 30 seconds being very likely so left it out. Of course there will be times when we control the subject , ie still life, when maybe it would be handy but even then I guess we can also control the light and the exposure time hmmmm I talked myself out of it now ........

I can confirm , after buying the program a on its release being my first slr and first pentax that it comes without a cover. I still own 2 program a's today and one has the original plastic film on the bottom plate. I was never aware of a cover you could buy as an option so it is very normal for them to have the bottom of the wonder drive showing . Hope that helps.

A stunning set of very professional images David I would be very happy indeed if they were part of my portfolio and I would be happy to pick several to frame and hang with pride on my wall. Well done thank you for sharing

Thanks Richard, I wish I knew how. If I am honest the file on my pc even after converting to the correct file size and jpg doesn't show the halo but as soon as I upload its there. Maybe I am failing to do something but it was a small improvement on the original. Think I need to look deeper into this but your time is very appreciated.

After the surprise of the positive and lovely comments on recent images I posted the problem of the halo effect made me try again and correct the image. It was a very grey and flat sky so I tried to introduce a little drama and in doing so it caused issues so I have reworked the image and although I have lost a bit of the drama I think I have no kept the halo's away ......although mine is still missing if you see it

Hope it hasn't lost the things you liked about it, I am no expert and I hope it has worked.

Thanks for looking TonyComment Image

Hi Brian, with Simonmac on using LR and although PP is not my strong point you are right in that the number of video guides on the net does make the learning curve less painful. Its been a long time since I used PSE but I think whatever you use its a case of getting accustomed to the work flow and I do find LR for me does make more sense.

Yes John it had a count of 2 from memory, not a quantity that would ring alarm bells for me if I am honest hence it didn't concern me at the time. The battery and charger etc were un touched and I didn't have one moments issue with it while I owned it. Like you it came from SRS and my knowledge in their aftersales support only helped give me confidence not to be concerned. One click on the shutter count may just tell me they checked your camera prior to despatch rather than a customer return that would I am sure have far more clicks.
I agree with Christopher however to contact SRS at least just to ease your mind. I hope you can enjoy your camera in the near future.

Regards Tony

Hi John, can't give you a definite answer to all your concerns but I have had the K10d, K3 and K1 all from new and none had a seal on the box ( a point made many times by others). None had any protective film on the lcd's either. Shutter count is as my K3 but other than the K10d no finger marks were present. This may put your mind at ease, I hope so as the K3 is really a great camera. Tony
