That's a good price for an M28mm f3.5, that's normally around the price of the cheaper f2.8. The K28mm f3.5 seems to go for £70-£100 at the mo'.

It does for me. If there is sleight of hand in the conclusion then maybe the performance differences are also played down with further sleight of hand. In fact it's not sleight of hand it is clumsy and heavy handed manipulation. Matters of fact such as the presence of a tilting screen, an Av dial, etc are undisputed. But I can work those out for myself. I want a review to give me a genuine insight on comparative performance and this is clearly just an advertorial. A shame. I wouldn't buy one based on this review.

There was one in Italy, sold for a very reasonable price a few days ago. They do come up frequently on ebay but prices seem to be rising for these and for other K's.

I liked the review...................up to a point.

At the conclusion we have a comparison between the RX100 and the MX-1. We have pricing flashed up from the same supllier that shows type RX100 priced at A$699 versus a (meaningless) RRP of A$799 and the MX-1 at A$464 versus RRP A$549.

Now jump to 16:50 "But for my money if was deciding between these two cameras whether to spend nearly A$800 or whether to spend just over A$400" and the conclusion is that the Sony is ridiculously expensive and the Pentax the better value for money proposition.

So an actual price difference of A$235 becomes a difference of A$400 through the magic of marketing bull****

For me this completely destroys the credibility of the review. It is carefully crafted to appear unbiased but it is in fact quite the opposite. I would rather make my own decisons based on honestly presented information than be treated like an idiot, which I am not, imo.

That is not to say I don't like the look of the MX-1, I do. But this review more tempts me to buy an RX-100 as actually the conclusion is a noticable difference in IQ for not such a huge difference in price.

Dear Pentax, I am (still) not stupid, imo. You clearly beg to differ.

Thanks Nass, good to hear. It will be used predominantly for landscape. I shall go for it.

I have an opportunity to acquire this lens at what I believe to be a very reasonable price. I have looked in the usual places but I can find surprisingly little on this lens. So I should be grateful for any owners' opinions.

But there are very likely to be full frame Canon/Nikon users who have tried older Pentax lenses. That would give a pretty good indication.

That's the point really. Selling it at £239 is great for someone who wants one but it is really bad for Pentax. I want Pentax to thrive as a company and ill conceived products isn't the way to thrive.
