From the silhouette I'm having a wild stab that it's a camera.

So by logical extension of that thought process, the pinnacle is manual mode.

Which I would tend to agree with.

I didn't get where I am today by joining a camera club.

RIP, RIP.

But it will be once it is dressed up as a Pentax. It is an update of the 12-24 which was a Tokina. Better CA performance and weather sealing would make it a worthy upgrade, as long as the price isn't silly. But I suspect it may be.

Lovely colour on the sand. Slice off the rhs possibly? Actually I think this would look great square.

For film I think ND grads are essential. For digital I think they are essential too. You have to expose for highlights and low light noise performance is just not yet good enough to cope in many situations you might find yourself in.

Exposure blending is a processing option. If you look at the colour balance in the landscape article on the front page then it links to a gallery of beautiful landscapes by a Canon photographer with examples of exposure blending. That of course is less of an option if you have elements of the scene in motion.

I weas within an inch of buying that lens. I'm very glad I didn't as that beautiful image would not have existed. What Gary said.

I haven't tried the Sigma. It is really too wide for me in most circumstances so would be a luxury. So why am I interested in the 14-24, just because it looks so damned good.

I wonder if it's OK now to post images on this site taken with a Canon. As long as you don't tell anyone

It depends on the price. If it is at normal market value for its type then I expect everything to be as it should. If it is a potential bargain then I'll tale a punt.

I should imagine the K Ropnutoj will be in roughly the same price ball park as the Nikon D610, a bit lower but probably not unaffordably so and will be roughly the same pixel count. So a performance comparison will be very interesting. Lens prices are being elevated to the price where Pentax APSC and other marque full frame is not so great a leap. So it had better be good.
