Wow, what a trip! Some lovely photos too. I think "About To Be Deluged", "More of that sunset, as we leave the Raftsundet" and "Stabben Lighthouse" (second) are stunners. I'd love to see some higher res versions.

Very nice photo, love the magenta tint in it with the yellow sun as contrast, works really well.

Have seen your other photo's as well, mainly like the landscape photos at dawn or dusk.
I also saw the Aurora photo's how was it to seem it in real life and how was the dog sledge?

Thank you all for the comments on the photos.

The aurora in reality, was astounding. At least the second time we saw it. The first time was a bit underwhelming, but the second time we had over two hours of dancing lights. I'm not a very spiritual person, but it was almost a spiritual experience.

Someone said of the scenery that she felt she was in the middle of a Lord of the Rings film .

Dog sledding was cold, uncomfortable (only 1cm of plastic between my bum and the snow/ice, a good job it's well padded :lol, but exhilarating too.

I had a terrific trip, with one or two minor hiccups. I'd recommend it to anyone.

I'm now officially a member of the Royal and Ancient Polar Bear Society too.

Wonderful to hear you had a great trip, still want to go there some day and see the aurora for myself

Wow, that building (chapel? lighthouse?) is so dwarfed by its surroundings!

It's a lighthouse, the same one that gets deluged just afterwards.

And the Chimping German. I liked that one too. I had to wait for ages until they'd all got off the plinth where they all stood arms widespread while someone took their photo - a bit like the Japanese do, and he was the last one - I think he'd gone for an artistic up through the globe shot, but I can't be sure - it was too damned cold and windy to stay there long waiting for a shot.

And he was a chimper - every photo was chimped and shown to anyone around him. I tried to avoid him.

There were two other k-5s on the ship though, one a French one, one an American (with stains). He was going to send it back after the trip. It was too much camera for him really - his first SLR never mind D-SLR. I tried to help him but sometimes he asked the weirdest things. Plus he was shooting in Sv most of the time. I persuaded him to switch to Av, and use the ISO button if he needed to, after which he got much better results.

What an amazing and fantastic portfolio Gwyn. It must have been a trip of a lifetime. The only times I've been to Norway were all in winter so I can really relate to your pictures.
