I think the first two were improved and reposted.
I'm glad the models were happy, and am sure McBrian learned alot.
I think both the talent and photographer have potential, that go beyond the final product here....a couple tweaks with softbox, and reflector could havve pushed these to excellence.

all in all a fine effort, time well spent....
as artistic expression, or editorial or even fashion use one can break all the rules but in camera club competition, under portrature, not quite there...the skin in the light areas of #1 looks very good. Careful placement of a reflector could've pushed #1 to excellent.

If I were you, I'd get that 10-20, and pack it with the 18-55, and the 70-300!
alot of people immediately think wide angle when they think landscape...
DON'T rule out telephoto! How else can you get a zig-zag line of the great wall compressed against big mountians? HUGE sun setting over the roofline of an ancient temple?

a cheap transmitter (don't remember the brand) a little more tempermental.
pocket wizzard works.
seems some sit better and connect to the center contact than others...
the nikon hotshoe adaptor works great, as does the 360 in manual mode with optical slaves onthe studio units.

try to find out what equipment was being used, tell us more detials about how you set about problem solving the issue.
I'm betting it is either the hotshoe adaptor, or the pc cables or the polarity issue. (polarity issue easy fix....cut the wire and reverse the wires before soldering it back together on one lead and see if it works)...
there are voltage issues with some (esp older) studio units that could damage your slr....wein synchsafe may help.
