point. counter point.
It's a nice debate. Could go on for a long time.

I wonder what other species could go on like that, with such an intelligent debate, about our species, our arts, our sciences, politics...

fish swim. so do dolphins. (look at how evolution sculpted sharks and dolphins).
birds fly. so do bats. so do insects. How many different species have eyes? legs? hearts?

in fact, every species out there has similarities to other, sometimes completly different species.

the absence of human like concience, intelligence, and abstract thought, on a level that competes with humans... is significant. And therefore must be Proof of something. Evolution demands that those attributes must be of value and therefore more than one lifeform would evolve to have it.

The fact that I can't have this argument with an insect-evolved creature, or reptile-evolved creature... you get the idea? You are more than the sum of your building blocks. And entitled to your beliefs.

In the end,
I could live my life, with my beliefs, and harm no one with them.
If I was wrong, the end comes and I am dirt. I lived my life trying to be good to my fellow human beings. If I influence them to do likewise I've harmed them in no way. If I'm right, I'll see them after death in a good place.

You could live your life, with your beliefs, and choose to do nobody no harm. If you're right in the end, you are dirt. Everything ends. You lived your life trying to be good to your fellow human beings.
If you are wrong, you and everybody you misled wind up in a bad place, And you will have harmed many, with your beliefs.

Either way, this argument should end.

Well I suppose that one could use dna, chemical analysis, carbon dating, scientific observation, and whatnot to analyze the contents of a bakery....
Perhaps one person will take the "evidence" and conclude that the cookies evolved from the muffins, which evolved from the cakes, which evolved from the breads......while another will look at the evidence and conclude that they were all made in the same kitchen, and give thanks to the baker.....

But at the moment, there is nothing stopping both from enjoying the goods!

The bulk of my images are portraits. Photos of people who have souls.
Most of my stuff never winds up on the web.

Fair enough.

I'm not likely to live long enough to be prepared to spend any fraction of my remaining years debating it here, though - I'd prefer to try and improve my photographic skills.
It's the astonishment, and awe I have for all of creation that inspires me to pick up a camera.....

Well Chris, I wasn't disagreeing with you, really. Jet engines dominate.

Even when we spot the better design, doesn't mean it'll be the one that wins....(betamax vs vhs, gasoline engine vs steam).

Evolution? Really?

Plattypus shows really well what happens when a closed ecosystem keeps evolution in check. Just imagine how embarrassing it was for the first plattypus that decided to keep it's eggs inside and sprouted nipples.....All the other plattypuss'es calling it names "Get out of here you buck toothed, freakin' beaver!"

Seriously... a guy diggs up a tiny bone fragment, guestimates the age at several hundred thousand years or more....decides that is enough "evidence" to tell you you what the animal looked like, how it lived and what it evolved from/into. And that is proof there was no creator?

I love theories.

But evidence suggests that three major religions (that generally don't get along), historical documents, and artifacts, eye witness accounts, more than two thirds of the worlds living population.... the atrocities that are occuring to this very day support the existance of a battle between good and evil....I'd say the evidence is overwhelming that something occured in the middle east a couple thousand years ago...
and it has had a profound impact on humans to this very day. It doesn't disprove evolution, but suggests evolution was designed into creation.

whats that got to do with cameras? nothing really.

except whether you believe market dominance and sustainability, are the result of "evolution" perfecting design... or radical new creations alter evolution, is moot.
The market place is too random and chaotic to always let the better design win.
Video cameras will over take still cameras, when they are able to shoot 10-20 megapixel images at 60 frames per second, and cell phones will destroy the market for point and shoot cameras.

(ps all the above mentioned devices were created by us....none evolved on thier own, nor would they exist, in any form, had we not created them. )

Aero engine people were saying almost exactly this about piston-engined aeroplanes.

They'd done variable pitch propellers, turbo- and then superchargers, contra-rotating props...

... coaxed just about as much out of squashing fuel-air mixtures between lumps of metal as they could...

... and then that annoying bloke Whittle came along.
interesting analogy. there are lots of piston engined aircraft in use today....

well....
those wheels do go anywhere a wheelchair will go (even on a city bus).
The robot can be wheeled (in neutral, backwards) like a hand dolly/truck.
It is a heavy, self powered camera platform (primarily video) that does smooth dolly moves and can be programed, or remote operated, or simply pushed manually. it has a variable speed, motorized pan tilt head with video lights.

When those temporary arms are removed and the manfrotto magic arms attached, it does hold flash units, or reflectors, or dslrs.

It will, when it looks more finished, be great for tradeshows, where other companies can hire me to film/photo thier events/products/comercials and play the materials on the robot...... right now it only runs my slideshows, and videos. I can stream photos wirelessly to it, and operate it over the net.

here's a video clip of my robot.
his head is off, and there's a salad bowl covering the mount and wiring.
laugh at the fake arms....he's got real ones on the drawingboard, and fiberglass body panels being made.

but as he sits....he pumps out 400 watts of power, can recharge all my batteries.....plays video and photo shows, can run a digital projector, and back up photos and record high def video in the feild.....

(not to overstate the obvious, but...) Three Meters is about Ten Feet....give or take an inch or two, or thirty or sixty millimeters thereabouts....

"How come when people talk measurements, like milk we use metric, but when asked our hieght, we use the old...you know...normal...not metric system? inches and feet?" -Hank...Corner Gas....

I can't believe they haven't banned me!javascript:emoticon('')
(not like those other stupid places..)....javascript:emoticon('')

It is nice to have a place where everybody is friendly, nobody has restraining orders, where Jerry Springer (speaking of American TV) isn't lurking or trolling for guests...

The worst thing the education system ever did, (to our society) was tell everybody to color within the lines.

You may want to buy a decent paper cutter.
