I had loads of miss focused shots - these are extremely hard to capture. Hope you enjoy anyways

Very nice. Pesky ants milking those aphids and protecting them. The gardener in me is stamping his wellies

I always find ants particularly difficult to get in Macro. Maybe it's a combination of their relentless movement and that they're mostly all black.

Nice shots. No1 looks like a town meeting.

Ants are very difficult to capture as chirp says

I'm planning to use a reflector this weekend - to add some backlight. Might help a bit. They always crawl around the same places - and stays around for a while.....

Only problem - they never sit still at all = lots of light.

some glycerin and a fine tipped paint brush.....
paint a trail and they will follow.....
now if your trail runs from a place they frequent, past a nice backdrop, where your lights/reflectors are set up....
Fired many shots. Didn't kill anything.

Thanks don - nice tip. I will probably try that out as well...

Was wondering if any of you have noise problems. At times I find the cropping to be a bit harsh regarding noise issues. What do you do? Do you PP in special programs. I find my Cs2 lacking a bit when it comes to noise. Often I end trying to blur backgrounds to remove some noise.

Experience?

Keen... very nice image and good exposure. A bit soft perhaps.

Hmm - ok - I might should do more work with the raw conversion. Most of my work is done in CS2.....

Might need to get the Silky trial once more to test it

Those ant pics are excellent,

I take my hat of to both of you, I tried to do the same and just ran out of patience and ended up taking pictures of bees instead, they were a bit easier and stayed still a bit longer

I might have to give it another go now

Yeah, we had to beat him up, that's why he's not around any more.
