the k10's multi exposure mode, allows you to fire several shots at diferent apertures for a cool orton image effect... heavy tripod needed...

with flash you adjust the light output, with constant/ambient light sources you can use the shutterspeed. or nd/polarizer filters in conjunction with the other two methods.

see the spring attached to the lever inside the mount?
that pull your lens aperture wide open to let in as much light as possible (when viewing/focussing), and when the shutter fires it AUTOmatically stops the lens down to your chosen aperture.

yes, and sort of....
yes you can controll softness.
f2.2 is very soft
f2.8 is a little sharper
f4 is fairly sharp.
f5.6 is as sharp as it gets.

at all apertures the image is sharpest at the center and softer towards the edges.
f2.2 is all foggy so to speak, f5.6 about as sharp as a canon kit lens....

Well hefty, the light was low and flat (looks like it's gonna rain), but the lens does wonderful stuff with the right light, and subjects. exposure is more accurate on the ds2 than the k10 also.

used with hard lighting (gridded strobe) and a ringflash for fill, this thing does amazing portraits!
at f4 it'll keep the eyes fairly sharp, and knock off ten years worth of wrinkles!

They were correctly described. Auto as in diaphram. to my knowledge, only kenko had an af (screw drive) extension tube for pentax. Buy yourself a pentax af 1.7 teleconverter, and stack the converter, then the smaller auto tube and then a 50mm lens, for a decent (if slow) af macro set-up.....

Yep I agree with Lilly!
Hefty...here you go...I just snapped this on 2 mins ago, for you.
other than a levels and crop (you must get the area you want sharp dead center and compose by cropping with this lens!) it's right off the k10 and 85mm soft.

It certainly is

Although I don't fancy our chances of tying down a definitive "good" and "bad" bokeh as bokeh seems to be firmly in the eye of the beholder.
I'd go a little further and say it's down to the individual shot....
I'm one of the few who actually like the donuts from a mirror lens. (waterfowl shots for eg)
I like the little orbs given off by my soft 85mm. (flower and portraits)
Smooth soft bokeh on some shots....interesting shapes on others.
