try to use available (esp window) light, if possible.
after a nap, feed, and bath, baby will be happy and alert.
get close-ups of the hands and feet.
a nakey baby, cradled in the crook of dad's arm is always popular, as is mom's interactions with baby.
if you get something worth paying for, charge them. if not re-shoot till you do!

what you need is flash, and some way to time the shot.
there are lots of resources on sound/laser triggers and high speed flash if you start googling!

This seems a bit daft to me, putting a state of the art DSLR, a PENTAX at that, onto the top of a tripod and posting the pics as "Our Tripod Collection"

you know....if you have one of the old black plastic body caps for your camera...you could drill a hole in it, tape a peice of tinfoil over the hole, and peirce the tinfoil with a pin to make your dslr take real pinhole images!
